  1. Infamous? Maybe a couple of things. But, these guys won us a resounding MAC Title and MAC Tournament Title. And one of them was tourney MVP. I'll go with "famous" He played at Akron when Shaka was an asst. coach here. That's the only VCU/Romeo connection I can possible think of.
  2. Hopefully, like usual, not enough people care enough about U of A Athletics for this to matter. But since it's on the subject "wasting public money", unfortunately most of the people who decide to read the article will probably believe what it says. Sheep will continue to be sheep.
  3. Whether some people want to believe it or not, we've gone from a situation of stability, great success, and relative certainty......to a situation where nobody knows what is going to happen to Akron Basketball. Having tons of our current players leave doesn't help. Having no Illinois players show interest in following their coach probably doesn't look good either. I'd have to agree that if these Akron area players didn't want to come here previously, the current situation isn't likely to increase their appeal.
  4. In more ways than most people can even imagine.
  5. Thank You. You're clearly one of the people that knows that there is a difference between the 2 of them. The people who write press releases should know the same. My remarks had nothing to do with how I feel about which one is of higher importance.
  6. Hopefully for the last time, I have be the fact checker and correct our people who write up these website stories, and state that Groce/Ford did NOT win 2 MAC Championships at Ohio. They never finished higher than 3rd Place. It was 2 MAC Tournament titles.
  7. I know the relationship they have very well. And I never doubted that it was inevitable. My reaction was half-joking shock from actually seeing it. And seeing it so soon.
  8. I liked hearing that he was getting another opportunity. Then I read that the Giants had 12 receivers. Maybe he will eventually get shifted to another spot where he'll have some sort of real chance.
  9. What's wrong with a mid-major coach who's been successful? I think that's exactly where they will end up, considering their current condition.
  10. Well, then someone will have to inform them that the 13-straight unbeaten streak doesn't go away just because they don't have the guts to play us this year.
  11. i love much of your post, lilroodude. But you'd have to be a little insane to think that the Suckeyes would even consider a coach who just got fired after posting an impressive 37-53 record in the same conference.
  12. Oh, by the way, did you know that Green became a CITY about 20 years ago? Exactly how long have you lived in Luau Land? Time for you to get away from the Mai Tai's for awhile and get back here to the real world for awhile.
  13. Maybe using "dude" shows my age too? Ok....would you be surprised if I told you that Massillon Rd. is almost completely developed all the way down to Greensburg Rd? I remember when the Shops of Green was pretty much the only "development" on that entire strip. After that, you drove into nowhere land. There's now multiple plazas, medical centers, etc. It's probably taken 30 years, but it's mind boggling.
  14. WOW. Extremely late. But no surprise at all, considering their rapid decline. I can't wait to hear why they waited until June. What happened to the recent "we think he's the best guy to pull us out of this" vote of confidence?
  15. Well, I agree with you on that. That's why someone appropriately put it in "off topic". But nonetheless, that never stopped the Cleveland fans in the past from using this board to bash LeBron. That's all I'm saying. I agree he's not getting the help he needs. And playing a team like that requires a lot of help. It just surprises me that I haven't seen the excitement that I'd thought I'd see from some of the guys on here when they went 12-1 to start the playoffs. But whatever enthusiasm there may have been, the 2 blowouts might have stifled that now.
  16. I find it interesting that there's a lot less activity on this board regarding the NBA Finals since the Clevelanders got done venting their hatred when LeBron was winning titles in Miami. It's disappointing. I'd really like if I saw a comparable amount of enthusiasm from Cleveland fans now, to at least equal the amount of effort they put into hammering on him a few years ago.
  17. I'm with you on all of this above. I like his size and build, if it's legit. Of course, I'm not impressed that he was being pursued at a lower level (Quincy to Butler?). I wish it was a I-A transfer. But he appears good enough to compete. So, you're right. Get him in here and see what happens. This "loading up" on Quarterbacks shouldn't disappoint anyone after the depth problems we encountered last year. And quite often, you end up finding good athletes that can possibly help somewhere else. We've done that many, many times in the past.
  18. Dude. Thanks for reminding me how old I am. I think I might even still have one of those radios in the bottom of a box somewhere. But I think my Huffy Banana-Seat bike ended up in a junk yard somewhere. Now you're going to probably reply and remind me that you couldn't even catch a bus in Green during those days. There was nothing there but farms back then.
  19. I'm seeing 6'-3" and 220 lbs. Which is pretty much ideal. I realize it's a "listed height", but I'm curious where you saw 6'-2" (or were told that). That would mean he's probably only a little over 6' tall.
  20. Who knows how good he is. But he looks physically strong, and his height/weight are ideal to me for a QB.
