say folks...bunch of bad omens with the can't win..first...unless the Zips beat army...all we are going to read in the leakin' urinal is can't....can't....can't...for 3 months or more...the other obvious problem is can't is going to be REAL tough to beat at the Bowl especially after the Zips get their behinds kicked at OSU and play another ugly game at indiana...the scheduling may cost the Zips any advantage they may have had by playing at home...if they are not real ready to play tomorrow they could go through the first 4, 0-4....oh my!

lets see what all the EXPERTS really know about the game...lets hear the scouting reports on what to look for from ARMY and the ZIPS on Saturday...if akron can control their defensive end...they have a good safety too... and run the ball right at Army...not to the perimeter and the Zips D can force Army to have to go to a drop back passing game the Zips have a chance...Army's QB is pretty big and the O line is decent...if the Zips let them run on 1st AND 2nd down and do not create TURNOVERS zips have no chance...ZIPS O will be sputtering and feeling their way...Army has to turn it over for the ZIPS to win...

sadly ARMY has guys on the some watch lists...an o lineman a d.back and a d.lineman...these guys are NOT that bad-ARMY 21 ZIPS 14...hope not but...

frankly this may set the tone for the rest of the year...ZIPS lose this one they go into the can't game not only physically but emotionally beaten up...problem is ARMY has some experience at a number of positions...a Lombardi list D-lineman a Lott list d-back and a kid at center who is apparently outstanding...this is a tough game to win!

interesting article in the abj on 8-22-07 about discipline on the team...glad to see that JD and apparently the AD finally recognized that JD was selling his soul in order to try to develop a 'winner' here...can you say david harvey?...sure ya can...he was specifically mentioned in the article...there is areason that 6 or so "student-athletes" are no longer student athletes this year...at the level the ZIPS play at if its too good to be true it probably is...if Jacquemain is actually the "starter" lets see how much character Carlton Jackson has...or will he take is balls and go home?...

don't absolve these "kids' as you call them of responsibility for decisions they make...its unfortunate but many of them are so immature and so self-centered they have little if any regard for the effects of their behavior on others...iresent the fact that some of these types get free passes to an education when many of the rest of us actually had to pay our own way and were actually able to hold down a job while we went to school...the people i went to school with and i had great grades did well afterwards...my family sure as hell wasn't rich...some how we managed to make it through school and get 'real' jobs afterwards...harvey had no business going to college...he obviously did not have the tools or the desire!!!!!

the 'pitch and putt'? the more things change the more they stay the same...maybe the old double wing O WAS the way to go...i watched 'Jerry's Kids' run that O...ask Marcel Weems after the 7th or 8th game of the season if he wanted to keep running that offense...your QB would have to be 6'4" 250 to run that for 12 games...

here's my top 3 in order...the 1976 Bowl game aginst Northern Mich-my friend and i drained a bottle of canadian club in the 1st half..damn that was cold..the Blizz Bowl against Can't...because it meant so much and so many FANS showed up...and the OT win against northern illinois... aharbinger of even better things!

the ABJ is slowly going the way of the TITANIC...a shame because when i was growing up in Dacron, Ohio in the 60's and 70's the BJ(sorry) was actually a nationally recognized paper...when the Knight's ran it it devoted resources to gettng news both hard news and sports... long before pluto or ocker got there... the BJ actually did a story about a Little League Tourney game I was in in 1964!!! thats writing about sports!...anyway... the paper did NEWS REPORTING not all this human interest personal opinion stuff it does now...pluto is only looking out for himself...probably what many of us would do who need a job!
