Absolutely no way he ends up at YSU. We already got 2 solid running backs on the roster in Torrian Pace and Jamaine Cook (Cleveland) and we signed three star running backs in Allen Jones (Ursuline), Jordan Thompson (Lakota West), and Adaris Bellamy (4-Star from Florida).

From top to bottom, definitely. Akron, Can't, and Ohio are the best in the MAC and then there is a huge drop off from there on out. From top to bottom, the Horizon League is definitely deeper.

He got a number of looks from Big Ten schools, but no offers. His only offers were at the FCS Level. He will likely shine at this level. About his grades, considering I am an alum of Ursuline, I can tell you that his grades were just fine, per a teacher there. Did not hear anything about test scores.I believe he was sold on the fact our coach was an Ursuline alum that had been talking with him since his freshmen year when Wolf was at Illinois and most recently at South Carolina.

I assume our head coach. The man was one of the best recruiters in the nation when he was at Illinois and South Carolina. He got kids with offers to schools like Ohio State and Michigan to come to Illinois and kids with offers to Georgia and Florida to come to South Carolina. Mark Porter of ScoutingOhio.com says he is one of the best college recruiters he has ever worked with. We already got Allen Jones out of Ursuline to commit and a QB with 3-4 I-A/FBS offers out of New Mexico; name is Meiko Locksley, son of NM Head Coach Mike Locksley. As of now, I do not think Akron and YSU are in the running for the same kids, but our head coach is going after two local kids that are currently committed to Toledo (Harper-Ursuline) and Can't State (Wollet-Poland). I will keep you folks updated.

I am a little skeptical as well, but coaching at this level with the athletes Wolford is bringing in, their is a good chance he will do well here. Here is the coaching staff we have hired.Looking at the staff's of both YSU and Akron, it looks like things could be looking up for each program for the years to come!
-
I would not be boasting about this. The resume at Akron isn't pretty, but he'll do just fine in YSU. We have a winning tradition and will get the job done. Trust me, anyone is better than the last bum at Offensive Coordinator we had.
-
FYI: Shane Montgomery is in line to be the new offensive coordinator at YSU.
-
But he may end up on the dark side at YSU!

THEY ARE A LOT BETTER THAN UIC.Trust me, their record may be bad, but they are a lot better then their record indicates, as you guys experienced last year. I believe they only lost at UNC by 11 points. They are mainly a JUCO/New Recruit team because they graduated almost everyone from last year, or so I thought. In my eyes, Valpo will give you a much tougher challenge than UIC. However, they are probably the two bottom feeders in the HL this season.

UIC is not good this year. I say Zips by 14.YSU head basketball coach said on the weekly radio show yesterday that Akron will KILL them.UIC is bad enough this year that YSU may even beat them. We went 2-1 against them last year. Unfortunately the loss came in the HL Tourney, at home to make matters worse!

D'Orazio is a damn good quarterback, but only out of the option. Ursuline made adjustments at half and absolutely shut the guy down when they tried to pass the ball.

Aren't you the guy that told us that Stoops was negotiating salary for his staff Wolford is getting the same deal as Stoops was set to get. The truth will come out in the coming days. I talked with someone personally VERY close to Mark and the Friday, OHSAA State Title Weekend, he was set to become the head coach here. Then he got the call down to Tallahassee to interview for the FSU DC job, and the rest is history.pm if you want to know who that person was.PLEASE keep us updated on this situation e. Most of the folks on this site are unwilling to admit it, but we live for news about the battlen flock at ysu.I do not know if that is sarcasm or not, but you can watch the press conference on WFMJ.COM, VINDY.COM, or MYValleySports.com LIVE at 3pm today.

Look who was right after-all about YSU. Never underestimate this Penguin. There will be a formal press conference on Tuesday, December 15th in the DeBartolo Stadium Club to name Eric Wolford the next (sixth) head coach at Youngstown State University.Meet Eric WolfordFurther proof NEVER to trust those scoop sites. The one scoop site, the inaccurate one, was actually right for once on this. The other one, the supposedly accurate one, said Saturday he was out of the running for the job. Yet another reason to take what you read on the net with a grain of salt.

FYI: Stoops got the FSU DC job in the last hour and Ursuline grad and South Carolina Run Game Coordinator Eric Wolford will get the job.

Down to a Mooney guy and an Ursuline guy. Although I am an Ursuline guy, I want the Mooney guy lol.Either way, YSU football is in better hands. Thanks!

Solid hire Akron!
-
Good hire by you guys. Here is the latest on the YSU job:http://www.letsgoguins.com/columns/footbal...ops-and-wolford
-
Trust me, I do not come here to tick you guys off, I can't help it I had to come on here and defend my Guins!
-
How can that be? I thought he was just negotiating his coaches salaries and signing on the dotted line? Something about hitting a home run. At least he is interesting in playing ball for us, not the Kangaroos down the road in Akron.
-
I stand by my statement that Mark Stoops is the front-runner for the YSU job. Sunseri of Alabama is the favorite to become D.C. at Florida State. The people I talk with on this subject know a lot more than the scoop sites.Of course he could be the surprise pick to get the job at FSU, in that case, we'd likely hire Eric Wolford, another Youngstown product, this one from Ursuline.
-
Even though Virginia is going to hire him today, I like the type of guy we are interested in...defensive guy with head coaching experience.I am also glad that we are not only looking at local guys who some posters think we need because they can "recruit this area" I think that's hog wash.I am telling you, go after Mickey Matthews of James Madison.

How about the MAC Championship? How about beating BCS school Syracuse? How about beating Top 25 Marshall?.......As far as what fans at a HS football game are saying, I could care less. What else do people from Youngstown have to talk about....the weather.....the great economy...the booming downtown...the beautiful landscaping? After yesterday, Youngstown is poised to hold the title of being the best high school football area in Ohio. Ursuline, my Alma mater, and Mooney destroyed their opponents yesterday.Weather is same as Akron.Economy is very similar to Akron.Downtown is a hell of a lot nicer than you think. Our 6,000 seat arena has made downtown the entertainment destination in the Valley. Thank You Traficant lol!Indians06 is telling it like it is.
