  1. Valpo is better then their record indicates. It is likely that YSU will have to go to Valpo next Saturday and beat them to get a home tournament game..
  2. When VALPO isn't showing their TV feed, it is usually terrible... It looks and sounds terrible..
  3. i'd say talk to the athletic department and see if they can't do something to gauge interest conference wide. if it's a popular idea, then take it to the commissioner's office and see if they can't do something about it.We don't have a commissioner. He quit after screwing up too much.We used to have our home games available on our athletic website last year, but now they only have audio. This has been a huge success to the Horizon League. I've been to a few dinners with the HL people and they have made mention some huge traffic numbers for these games. It has definitely assisted them as they've moved up in the conference rpi to #11.
  4. Exact Link:Akron @ Valpo on HLN
  5. Trust me. If you overlook them, they will beat you. Ask #11 Butler how tough they are.Valpo nearly upset them the other day at the Hinkle Fieldhouse.
  6. Actual Attendance: 2636And for us on a Monday night, that is very good for us. We aren't a basketball school folks. We get 15-16,000 every year in football and we pride ourselves on our football program, which is in disarray in my book.
  7. During the post game show, Frenchy said this was the last game of a 4 game contract. He said he didn't think there would be anymore games in the near future. Hmmm. That surprises me. Trust me, YSU would be open to play CANT or AKRON any and every year in any sport, esp the sport that begins with F... cough football.I'd be shocked if this game isn't played in the future. YSU fans love it, though we get drilled in it!
  8. Nice win guys.. You guys are a veteran group that looked so damn strong in that 2nd half. Let's hope the Penguins of the 1st half will be the Penguins of the future. Good Luck in the MAC...
  9. I am heading up there now.If you are driving in. Tune to 570 WKBN for pregame/game/postgame...GO YSU!
  10. That's a great question. Honestly we just fed off the crowd's enthusiasm all night. If we don't have a big crowd, will we be flat?
  11. Side note:Game is tonight at 9pm on ESPNU.We are expecting close to a sell out of around 6000 to 6500 for this game.IF we win, I think we may see another big crowd against you guys on Monday.See you then!
  12. I laughed when I saw someone actually though Cleveland State was chicken to play Akron.I didn't know playing [beating] Syracuse, West Virginia, Washington, Kansas State, and Butler twice is being chicken.Next year they got West Virginia at home and also got Ohio State and 3 other major programs...Chicken, I think not...$$$ TALKS!
  13. BTW: Cleveland State takes on Youngstown State this Friday Night at 9pm on ESPNU from Beeghly Center. Check out the game and scout out the Penguins if you wish. We have shown signs of being very good, as well as signs of being very bad, as we seem to do every year.We got a lot of depth, but struggle to play solid defense, which has killed us in most games..
  14. Hey I know its 8 days away, but i just wanted to inform ALL Zips fans that all General Admission tickets for this game will only be $1.00. Also, all hot dogs and popcorn will be just $1.00. YSU has done this promotion a few times the past few years and they call it DOLLAR DAYS at Beeghly Center.I figured I'd stop in and let all you folks know who may be interested in coming Monday the 26th. Can't beat that price for a ticket.
  15. The 12000 is your average attendance after 2 games. The 15.8k in Youngstown is the average attendance after 3 games.Don't you have a "Fire Heacock" meeting to attend?I'll attend it if he fails to get us over .500 this year. I am confident he can lead us to the playoffs in the Missouri Valley Conference, considering we have 2 Top 10 teams still left at home.Think it's just YSU that rules, I urge you folks to attend the Ursuline-Mooney game at Stambaugh in a few weeks. It will really make Cant State look bad. Ursuline is #1 in D5, Mooney #4 in D4. Mooney has won the last 6 meetings I believe. If the weather is relatively nice, it will be packed. High School football in the Valley is second to none!

  17. Was it really that much. The pictures do all the talking:Who has the most fans in NE Ohio??Those pictures don't tell the whole story. We know that YSU's stadium only has stands on one side of the field. The photos taken at the Rubber bowl show the side where nobody sits on. Can't's pics look pretty accurate, though.Well perhaps the picture doesn't tell the story, but the numbers do not lie. If you find me a picture of the other side of the RB, I'll gladly post it. And also, YSU does have 4000 seats on the other side of the stadium, where do you think that photo was taken from.

  19. You be the judge: Akron Attendance vs. Can't vs. YSU
  20. Heard from 3-4 people that are reliable that he will be a Penguin. This is them, not me. I'll try to hook up my sources to see what they know. It's down to YSU and Akron though...
  21. Youngstown State took [RB] Marcus Mason from Illinois after getting into legal problems there. He got straightened out in Youngstown, set many records, and is now with the Redskins. Youngstown State also took [TE] Louis Irizarry from Ohio State after getting into very similar problems as Smith. Both came to Youngstown, both had ZERO incidents here.... Who would've thought in the 15th most dangerous city in America!!! :D
  22. Lance Smith, a Warren, OH native that went to Howland HS and then continued his playing career at Wisconsin has been jailed for 20 days for a misdemeanor charge in Madison. The sentence could be shortened to 8 days with good behavior. In court, Smith says he plans to return back to Ohio to play football. According to the Madison Capital Times newspaper "He is now deciding whether to attend Youngstown State, where his older brother played football, the University of Akron, or Ohio University in Athens."This is the first article that mentions Akron. All the other articles mention YSU-Ohio-Nebraska. Many put YSU as the front-runner where he would be able to begin playing immediately, and would not have to sit out a year if he attended Akron or Ohio.I'll keep you folks updated, figure you would want to know. He is a local guy to Youngstown and YSU fans have been following this very closely.
  23. Haha. If that 'Flames' meant the UIC Flames, I could assure you we probably got drilled lol.. Although we did beat them and dominate them in Youngstown this year!
  24. Stadium still is crap.Ice Castle > The 'Dick'
  25. the blog is a nice format but I don't think many people are going to want to supply their name & email address in order to comment...is that really required? You must've never been to a blog then. The name could be your name on this site or your real name it makes no difference. The email address can only be seen by me, and I'd have no reason to email you anyways.EVERY blog either requires you to register for an account, and if you do not want to do that, simply post a name/screename and your email.EDIT TO ADD:2009 BASKETBALL GAME:Jan. 26 AKRON Beeghly Center 7:05 p.m.
