  1. I added a post on my YSU blog, which I just renovated. It used to be a forum and full website, but I got sick of maintaining it so I decided to make it a blog the other day. Comments welcome and appreciated!LINK: Should the YSU - Akron Rivalry be Renewed?
  2. I continually bring up we play in every other sport, I still have yet to hear a reason why we can't in football. Yes I know the MAC rules, but so what. What other team besides Can't on your schedule could bring 10-12,000 fans to Akron for a game? What other team beside Can't Would you guys actually travel heavily to?Strollo is all for it, but he is behind the YSU fans and their belief it should be a 2 for 1 deal. But I recognize that won't happen. Honestly is their much of a difference between the programs of 94 and 08? You guys aren't winning 1-3 games a year, now 4-6 games a year. YSU is right on pace with the 90s and 7-9 wins a year.PS: I also forgot to mention Northern Iowa of the MVFC beat Iowa State last year. So considering the circumstances, the MVFC had 4 wins against I-A Competition last year.... Not bad!
  3. Good luck buying many game with teams that are only at your stadium. Think back over the past decade and think of how many you guys actually had that were not home and home.Again I understand where you are coming from, but we just view it like this.1. We had a home and home when you guys joined the MAC in the 90s.2. We play home and homes in all other sports.3. It would probably sell out in each stadium. We travel very well.----6-7,000 at OSU [max tix allowance] with 2,500 to Appy State, NC and 7,000 to PSU.Of course we were Can't State's highest attended game each year when you guys played them at the Rubber Bowl. There is no doubt we'd bring 10-12,000 people if we could.. We average 17-18,000 per game as it is.
  4. Got a year or two before that can be set in stone haha... then you'll have us beat. But we'll still have Cant beat! And I know about the rule, but like the one poster said, perhaps petition it for just one game here in Youngstown. This is prob the first time in 4-5 months I even read this site... Been following politics.
  5. I was bored and thought I'd come out to see what was being discussed here and was stunned to see a 3 page YSU topic.Listen. I want to play you guys whatever it takes, but understand why our AD and many fans are the way we are.1. We played you in the 70-80-90s in a home and home rivalry that was great for the fans. It got huge crowds at Stambaugh and the Rubber Bowl.2. We already got a deal with you to play a home and home for our basketball games. We average more than you in football most years, and you average more than us in basketball most years. We are both Division 1 there and every other sport.3. It's 45 measly minutes away, I like what the above poster said, try to do a 2 for 1 thing in which we go to Infocision twice and you guys come to the Ice Castle once. Honestly could it be that bad for you guys to do that? We can showcase sell out crowds for each stadium and truly show how great this rivalry is!But here's the thing, I understand where you guys stand on this. You do not want to play YSU because it appears to be weak on your schedule, and if God forbid you lost, you could be the laughing stalk of the league. Note: Last year Northern Illinois lost to MVFC Southern Illinois 34-31 and Central Michigan got drilled by MVFC North Dakota State 44-14; and CMU won the MAC West! The MVFC is the former Gateway, which YSU is apart of... [it's the real good basketball conf.] North Dakota State also brought 30,000 into the Metrodome and beat the Gophers 27-21.If you lost to us, which is not as likely as it was in the 90s, it really wouldn't be as bad as in the past to be quite honest with you. You guys may feel embarrassed, but considering over the past 2-3 years 3-4 of the MAC teams have lost to IAA/FCS teams it wouldn't be that bad for you as far as your program stands in the MAC.I just want to play you guys. If we play in basketball and baseball and other sports, there is NO REASON WE SHOULD NOT PLAY IN FOOTBALL! None Whatsoever!
  6. YSU sure loves this conference and with a new coach, it's only a matter of time before we be competitive in Men's Ball. Our women's team is Top 4 this year and almost every other sport has won or came in 2nd in the HL tourney in the last 6 years..And we still got football.. Averaging 17,000 a game... In the best I-AA/FCS Conference in the nation! Come join us!
  7. The Horizon League broadcasts every HL game live online for Free. The website is: HORIZON LEAGUE NETWORKIt be nice to see the MAC do this, I enjoy watching our competition play here... Esp BUTLER!
  8. Well, let's see...play at Youngstown...sit on the bench at Akron... Hmmm...Let's think about it a while longer.I hope you are not implying that this kid is not good enough to play at Akron, because he most certainly is. Your running back Alex Allen came from Ursuline and played with Justin Brown, let's see if he has any influence on JB. BTW: Alex does play in Akron and would play at YSU.
  9. Akron is still in the running for Ursuline HS All State TE Justin Brown. Akron is the only school on the web that have shown much interest in the TE that scored a TD for the Irish in the D5 State Title game; but other MAC schools have shown interest...Surprise, surprise though; he has an official visit at Youngstown State coming up and rumor has it from those who know Justin, he is actually leaning toward Youngstown State; where his brother Brandon Brown was successful on the line. This kid has a nice body and a lot of people think he will be better than his brother. It looks like it will be Akron vs. Youngstown State battling out for this kid. Also note he started all 4 years at Ursuline and played 20+ HS Games at YSU Stambaugh Stadium.May the best school get this fine athlete!
  10. Akron- 33UIC- 29H A L F T I M ELinhart: 10 points-5 boards-3 fouls..
  11. If UIC continues to play like they have as of late, from what I've seen from their games I watched on the Horizon League Network, they can win tonight.UIC snaps your amazing home winning streak, one of the best in all of NCAA Basketball.UIC-75Akron-72
  12. You played against arguably the worst Horizon League team, now you will play against the 3rd best Horizon League team in my book. UIC is a very talented team with a very talented Guard by the name of Josh Mayo. He is probably one of the Top 5 players in all of the Horizon league, with the likes of AJ Graves and Mike Green of Butler.UIC will get a lot of players into the game and many of those players will score. UIC is no slouch here, and this should be a great matchup at the JAR.GOOD LUCK!
  13. Thank you very much! That was going to be my next question though, who is your Athletic Director and where does he sit at the games; so I can go ask him why we have this matchup in mens and womens basketball, but not in football.Should be a decent showing of YSU fans over there on a Friday Night.. cya!
  14. Sorry about the new post, but got an important question to ask.1) How much are tickets at the JAR? At YSU its $10 and $6.2) How would I go about getting tickets with YSU fans there? Like at YSU our away fans ask the ticket people to sit with the visitors and they either get them the lower level seats behind the bench or the GA seats the concourse up around the bench... Would I do the same at the JAR, or will I randomly be placed in the arena?3) Where on earth do I park? Judging by google maps aerial shots, I see nowhere near the place... or am I wrong?THANKS
  15. Wrong bird, but you get the idea.
  16. YSU comes in losing 4 in a row to Eastern Kentucky, Can't, Cleveland State, and Robert Morris. YSU is now 3-6 on the season....YSU lost to Can't by 7. In the 2nd half they were down by 21 at one point and cut it down to 3 in the final minute.YSU lost to Robert Morris by 3. In the 2nd half they were down by 18 at one point and cut it to 2 with 2:00 left, before losing.YSU's problem is they start off very slow in the first half and by the time they start playing some good basketball, they are getting their butts kicked. The only chance YSU has of winning this game is if they can stay within 10 points at halftime and make some 3 pointers.YSU had 5 guys in double figures in the loss Monday to Robert Morris; but the problem is those were pretty much the only 5 scorers in the game.I WILL BE IN AKRON FOR THIS ONE TOMORROW NIGHT FOR THIS DOUBLEHEADER.. Not expecting us to win, expecting to come home 0-2 tomorrow lol.GOOD LUCK AKRON!
  17. No need to question my posts lol because I am a fan of the Penguin. I mean he did say it right in front of the TV Camera; that is pretty much as accurate as you can get.
  18. Jared Province InfoScoutingOhio Page on ProvinceAt the WKBN/WYFX Big 22 High School Awards ceremony in Youngstown tonight, he told the reporters he will be playing for the Zips next year... Sorry if this has already been posted!
  19. Listen, I know you guys get sick of me posting about YSU on here, but you ever stop to think why we average 16,500-17,000 per year every year? It's because we win. Other FCS teams like Appy State, Montana, and Delaware all sell out their 21,000+ seat stadiums because they win. And if we were in the MAC, believe it or not, we'd probably sell out every game. You think we like seeing Lock Haven or S. Utah play here? HELL NO. We want to see Can't or Akron or Ohio come here. But we know it won't happen, but since we win, our fans come out and still support our team.If you guys can get a winner in Akron, there is no doubt in my mind you will see 30,000 people at your guys, you certainly have the population to get that! But one thing I think a lot of you Zip fans are doing in thinking a little to optimistically. Yes I think your attendance will go up with Infocision Stadium, but you will not magically get 30,000 at every game all of a sudden. You need to win to make that happen. This is not me being a bitch about UA sports at all, it's me giving you a realistic perspective of what you will see. I'd LOVE to see Akron become a winner and pack your new stadium, but you guys need to win first. Do you really think had that game 2 weeks ago on ESPN2 been in Infocision Stadium there would've been 30,000 people there???? NO. There is a reason there was less than 5,000 there, because you are lacking a winner and because it was freezing cold!Anyways good luck this year in your basketball season, YSU has you the 21st of December. I will be there! www.guinzone.com
  20. Sagarin Ratings for Ohio Schools4- Ohio State14- Cincinnati69- Bowling Green82- Youngstown State83- Akron97- Can't State100- Ohio U.102- Miami [OH]115- ToledoAlso Note... The MAC is just one up on the I-AA Gateway Conf. in the Conference Ratings. Also: Two Gateway teams are higher than all the MAC teams, least the ones in Ohio.... UNI-53 and SIU-65.CONGRATS ON BEATING CANT STATE!!!
  21. Guy needs to grow some balls and include YSU in there like the Sagarins do.That is no disrespect to Akron fans, but in particular the man to run that blog.
  22. How many fans you guys going to get at the Rubbers Bowl on Saturday... As long as its more than 8400 I will be happy. Just beat those f-cking flushes!Post your attendance prediction!
  23. The bigger comment I have is the pathetic attendance at the Can't Home Opener today.8400 people.PATHETIC.
