If I anger you folks in my posts, that is usually when I am trying to have some fun with you folks. :D If you guys knew me personally, you would know that I would never come here and talk trash. Who doesn't like a laugh here or there?
-
equins, you masterfully ride that fine line between collegial other-college buddy who collaboratively compares notes with fans from other teams, and gadfly troll who exists only to annoy the fans on the board you're visiting. I really and truly can't figure out whether you mean well when you come to the Nation, or whether you're tweaking us. Or whether you know that YSU is lower-level football and want to collaborate with Zips fans because it somehow puts you at the same level with UA. Isn't there a YSU board where you can talk Penguin football? I'd really like to know your intentions because I'm itching to blast you lately but don't want to if I'm misunderstanding you here.STZI don't come on here to troll around, often times I come on here to have some good fun with you folks. We may be 50 minutes apart, but our areas are awful similar.FootballCoachScoop.com is reporting Mark Stoops will be named head coach at YSU. Now listen, that is great news for us, but you guys still have PLENTY of great options. I never thought Stoops would end up at Akron, I believe he ended up at YSU for two reasons:1. Hometown2. Pull a Tressel

Sorry Akron Fans. Mark Stoops will be a Penguin next week!http://www.wytv.com/content/news/headlines...1IyxVx1sEQ.cspx

Jumping the gun? What coaching candidate would be negotiating the salary amount for his assistant coaches? I have heard from numerous people that it is Stoops' job for the taking. Although it will cost YSU a significant amount of money, the expectations here are a LOT higher in Youngstown than in Akron. As bad as we were this year, we still had a winning season at 6-5. Although our coach was 60-44 in his 9 years here, that was not good enough. Youngstown wants a winner and they will pay what it takes to get one.
-
YSU is willing to pay Stoops between $250,000-280,000/year to coach at YSU. I can confirm he is the front-runner and if the monetary differences are settled out, he will be announced next week after their game against USC.Read this article: http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/dec/01/land...-ysu-athletics/You have to be naive to think he isn't interested in YSU if he is -negotiating- pay for assistants!Very exciting time for Akron and YSU right now!
-
Boy is Walt going downhill. He is rumored to be interested in the Valpo job ehh.. That's too bad. I'd love to see him become O.C. at YSU!
-
Going for the home run, or the DeSagana Diop?Well from the ESPN article, it sure sounds as though the Zips fans would love to have Stoops as well.Mark will be named head coach in a week or so.
-
Youngstown State is going for the home-run. Mark Stoops is the front-runner for the coaching job there:http://vindy.com/news/2009/dec/01/landing-...-ysu-athletics/

Hmmm turns out LetsGoGuins was right. Brookhart was soon to be fired.Again explain to me how that was an 'unclassy' move again my friend.Should be interesting to see who Akron hires.
-
Anyone else notice JD Brookhart's name on that list with a notation (soon to be fired). Real classy there.Oh and I guess they were pulling that one out of their butts when they wrote that. C-mon man, are you blind to all the threads on this site about the next head coach at Akron? Brookhart is gone from what I am told.Pretty sad you that you would actually take offense to that. And sure those names seem far fetched, but a few sound like they may be front-runners... Marshall's Head Coach Snyder, Zona's D.C. Stoops, Ohio State Asst. H.C. Darrell Hazell, and one of the Asst's at Michigan State that does not have the last name Narduzzi.
-
Here is a list of the potential YSU hire's. There are a few names on here that I would never see ending up at Akron... They would be Pelini and Stoops, two Youngstown guys.. However the rest could be in the running for both jobs:YSU Coaching Hires?

With all due respect to my good friends in the Rubber City, I don't see Appalachian State Coach Jerry Moore going anywhere. Appy, as well as Montana and Delaware, averaged more fans than Akron this year, and every year for the past 5 years I believe. He is making good money there and they are rapidly becoming one of the best FCS programs of all-time. And again no disrespect to Akron, but those three programs are in a lot better shape than Akron right now and I'd be willing to bet all three would be able to handily beat the Zips, esp this year. Notice: no mention of ysu here!May I add they expanded their stadium and it is pretty damn nice:http://www.goasu.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_O...;ATCLID=1524706Of all the coaches at the FCS level that are pretty untouchable right now, I think those three would definitely be them. Appy averaged 25,969 a game this year, Montana 25,652, and Delaware 20,750.One coach comes to mind that I think would be a good fit at Akron: Mickey Matthews, head coach of James Madison University. Although they sucked this year in the very tough Colonial Athletic Association, which I dare to say is stronger at the top than the MAC is at the top. He has sent quite a few teams to the playoffs in recent years. Damn good coach, but many of the JMU fans want him out.Read up on him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mickey_Matthews

Looks like YSU and AKRON will each be hiring new coaches this year.

D'Orazio looked great in the 1st half against Ursuline, as they led 28-14.... BUT Ursuline absolutely shut him down in the 2nd half as my alma mater rolled in the 2nd half to defeat Cuyahoga Heights 47-28!He is a player.

"Real" Zips fans should be able to separate school rivalries from interacting with individuals. Screw uncivil behavior from anyone, especially if they are Zips fans representing Zips Nation.I appreciate the support Dave from Green. I did not come on here to start an argument, I came on here to pose a question I wanted answered. When I felt YSU was unfairly attacked, I decided to defend YSU like any normal fan would. You guys can claim you are averaging 20,000 a game, but come on now, you cannot tell me with a straight face that 20,000 actual people are showing up at your games. I can see the first game and the Can't game, but you had a game, the same weekend we had a game, in which both schools clearly overstated the actual attendance.

Temple's two losses:Penn Stateand Villanova (#2 FCS)

BTW: Akron has no reason to travel to a piece of crap glorified high school stadium BTW: No one likes our coach but we still go to the games BTW: No ones cares about YSU so stop posting stupid crap on here...you were so happy because our basketball team "lost" a scrimmage. Please, that was probably the greatest day in your life. BTW: 17,000 is nothing to be proud of BTW: YSUcks BTW: a kangaroo will kick a penguins a**boom roastedYou guys have got to be kidding me. I read on here and JJHuddle all summer about how Akron would sell out all their home games this year and that it was a start of a new era because of Telemarketer Stadium. Fact is you guys couldn't even get 20,000 for a BIG10 team. You had at least one clearly below 10,000 fans, a friend of mine informed me, and your team sucks just as bad as our team does. God only knows what your actual attendance really is. It's awful pathetic a city of 220,000 people can't find 27,000 people in a 30 minutes drive to come see MAC football. While us here in Youngstown, a city of 80,000, usually gets more fans in the stands than you guys.Stambaugh Stadium is not a glorified high school stadium.

Nobody showed up cause nobody likes our coach. The game on Saturday will be empty too. Tons of people refuse to go to a game until Mr. Heacock is fired. Luckily for YSU, he is going to be let go in 2 weeks!People show up at our games if we are winners. We had a few big turnouts to begin the season, but when we lost in front of nearly 17,000 against Missouri State, a game everyone felt we should have won, all hell broke loose. The call in show after the games is dedicated to Heacock haters.Come read what we think of him:www.letsgoguins.comBTW: We don't have a Division 2 team on our schedule this year or next year. We haven't played SR in a good 4 seasons and Clarion since the Tressel days. BTW: Tressel was the one that would schedule 2 Division 2 teams per year, not Heacock.

http://www.goredbirds.com/sports/m-footbl/.../111209aaa.htmlNORMAL, Ill. - It has become common practice for the Illinois State football team to schedule a game with a NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team. Usually those contests take place at the FBS venue, however a new deal signed by the Illinois State Athletics Department will bring a home game with Ball State to Hancock Stadium in 2013, as part of a home-and-home deal signed between the two schools.Illinois State is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.Ball State is a member of the Mid-American Conference. Please explain to me how the MAC team is allowed to go play at the MVFC's stadium??? Whenever YSU requested a 2 for 1 deal with Akron, you folks said it is not allowed to happen because MAC teams are not allowed to play at FCS stadiums...I'd love to hear your explanation to this one!

I know little details so do not kill the messenger!-Cleveland State won.-Dambrot said the following, "One thing I know for sure. We aren't very good right now."-The starters of CSU beat the starters of Akron. However, the Akron bench was stronger and deeper.Per: LetsGoVikes.com

YSU and Akron need to put their differences aside. Want to see a big crowd with a big visitor turnout? YSU is the answer.
-
What the hell does the Valley Conference mean? They play in the Football Championship Series. Or is their football league called the "Gateway Conference"? In any case, its a league for schools that really don't care about football. Did Proenza waste $65M for a stadium when this school can't draw 20,000 for a Big Ten opponent?1. It is the Missouri Valley Conference.2. We DO Care about football. I'd take Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois over almost any team in the MAC.3. Top to bottom the MAC is a better conference, but not by much according to the Sagarins...
-
Depressed after we thought this time would be different. What the hell does the Valley Conference mean? The Valley Conference, formerly the Gateway Conference.Home to your buddies over here in YOUNGSTOWN!Stadium looks great, but what the hell happened, only 18,340 came out for a Big Ten team???
-
Congrats on the new stadium...Your friends in Youngstown!

I told you not to look past Valpo, they are better then their record indicates.Igbavoa is a thorn in the side of the Penguins as well..Tough loss for the Zips.. By far the performance for Valpo all year for the last 30 minutes or so...
