LBJ Skills Academy at the University of Akron
ZZZips replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
It was another exciting week of basketball in NE Ohio. Plenty of star power and controversy (ie: Lebron dunk tape). See link below if you missed the action. This is the best blog I have found on the events at the JAR and Wolstein Center. Nice mention of Dru III and Rome. A really funny note on LJ Jr. Nice to see Craig Ehlo involved again this year.http://www.slamonline.com/online/college-h...g-city-classic/ -
There will be lights behind both stands. The lights on the west side will be on top of the press tower, while the lights on the east will be on light poles.Uakronkid - You are correct except you should have said "The lights are on top of the press tower"". On Wednesday and Thursday about half of the west tower lights were installed.

Anybody have any idea how you actually "win" the tournament if all games are preprogrammed? Is the third game Saturday or the 22nd?I rechecked the schedule and they have made a change. The tournament still opens on Thursday but we play NC State on Friday, Drake on Saturday and Howard on Sunday. I have no idea who is playing on Thursday in the new setup.

I could not attend this year. The University sent a note stating the Outing would be held on the 8th. I made plans to head out to Arizona the following week. Then UA changed the date to the 15th. Bastards.Cap'n - Sorry to hear you missed the football outing. Are you going to attend the Men's Basketball Outing at Silver Lake Country Club on Monday, August 31st?

FB is only one of the three teams that use the Schrank practice field daily. Where do you propose that the women's and men's soccer teams practice?

Just what exactly is Tyvek anyway? Insulation panels?DuPont™ Tyvek® commercial air barriers play an integral role in the leading weather protection system by controlling airflow and temperature, holding out bulk water, and allowing interior moisture vapor to escape.

quote name='Blue & Gold' date='Mar 30 2009, 02:39 PM' post='81026']I'm surprised there are not more architectural renderings available than what they have on GoZips.com. Such as what the 3 (or 4?) main entrances are going to look like; the finished locker rooms; the west side and east side concourses; inside a loge; the interior of the team shop; views from the box seats and different sections of the stadium, etc. There have to be more drawings than what are currently available, wouldn't you think?Per Your Request:Southwest Gate with Rubber City McDonalds Sponsorship SignageMain Lobby with Elevators on Right

Press Release:Can't, Ohio — Can't State University has suspended Chris Singletary (Chicago, Ill./Florida Prep.) for one game after reviewing the circumstances regarding a flagrant personal foul charged against him in Sunday’s win over Akron. The junior guard will sit out the Golden flushes’ Mid-American Conference Tournament opening round contest against Northern Illinois on Tuesday. “After reviewing the circumstances of the flagrant foul charged against Chris, coach Geno Ford and I have reached the decision to suspend him for Tuesday’s game,” said Laing Kennedy, Can't State’s Director of Athletics, “The interpretation from head referee Terry Wymer, who I have the utmost respect for, was that the action warranted a flagrant foul for a non-basketball play. However Coach Ford and I feel the situation required additional attention and disciplinary action from our end.”“This is strong and appropriate action from the administration and coaching staff at Can't State University,” said MAC Commissioner Rick Chryst. “The conduct that prompted the flagrant personal foul call in yesterday’s Akron contest, and subsequent game ejection of Chris Singletary, is isolated in nature and not at all reflective of the high respect that the Can't State basketball program, and truly the entire league, is known for. In my view, this should return the focus in a very positive manner to the tremendous rivalry that exists between these two institutions.”

Rutgers narrows athletic-director search to three top finalists

How did you calculate the "95% of Club seating unsold" number. I come up with a much lower percentage unsold. Please explain the numbers and the logic you used. Thanks in advance. -
I thought they were already wearing them.Sorry, only one team at a time. The Nike/UA contract is for Men's basketball only. The women are still under the existing Adidas contract. The is some confusion as to why some players are not using the new shoe. The answer is that the players have a choice of which shoes they order under the contract. Players have been selecting various models all season based upon how they like the specific fit and performance.

"They have been dubbed the Akron Editions, and are inspired by the University of Akron. Although he never attended college, he still feels the need to show love to his home roots. The shoes feature a white toe along with navy blue side panels that include detailed images of LeBron’s home city, right down to the sign from the street he grew up on. Finishing of the shoes are gold accents along with the University of Akron logo inside the collar as an added touch."Quoted from: www.kicksonfire.com/2009/02/17/nike-zoom-lebron-6-vi-akron-edition/

I am not a construction expert, but does it seem logical with all that is on the line with this project that the companies involved would work virtually no ovetime if the project was one month behind.
