We are down 10 and we were down by 12 in the Miami game so this team is certainly capable of coming back. Need to hit some three balls. About half the 3 balls were open looks while the other half were forced. We also missed some foul shots which we cannot afford and Lyles did not box out on a foul shot leading to 2 points.

If we had the usual MAC refs we would have had twice the number of fouls. Letting the teams play. What was with that Grey shot with 9 seconds left. It looked like he had no idea about the clock.

Keep it under 10 and regroup in the 2nd half when we can hit some shots. We have not played great and still in it which is a good sign.

I thought Scott's basket was a three.

Great timeout and subbed in Scott for Wilson. The movement looks much better. Tevari making some great moves. Keep it close and we still have not hit a three. Really good defensive rebounding thus far.

Great article on the transfer players. And if that were the case in 2019 Freeman does not walk on the team. Leave one spot open for a walk on and call it the Freeman exemption.

I think Wilson and Hardman are keys. We need them to shoot well from distance. They are both streak shooters and do not need a great deal of room to shoot.

I watched the end of the Michigan UC San Diego game last night and San Diego got the lead with about 3 minutes left in the game after coming back from a 15 point deficit. However, the Michigan point guard nailed a clutch 3 pointer and then the Michigan 7 foot center picked up some clutch rebounds and the opportunity for the upset was gone. It just reminded me that the Zips have to do everything right to win this game and Arizona has to do some things wrong for the Zips to win. Michigan kept San Diego in the game , they shot around 50% from the line and missed the front end of some one and ones. They also missed several shots around the rim. The Zips need to rebound and not have a repeat of what happened against St. Marys. We also have to shoot the 3 ball well, 40% or better and move the ball well to hit the open man for the 3. San Diego ran screens forcing the 7 footers to cover their quicker guards. It worked and they were able to penetrate based on speed. Although we do not have Freeman, I like our chances better than last year because we are a better shooting team and our guard play is much better than last year. Go Zips!!!

I do not want to offend anyone but I was hoping to read comments about our game tomorrow and not guessing who may or may not transfer. Lets enjoy the moment where we can get our first NCAA victory. Go Zips!!!

Although this is the first meeting between Arizona and Akron, Here is a surprising stat that bodes well in our favor: • Arizona is 5-5 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents Time to make it 5-6

I know I am in the minority but a Kent win is good vibes for the MAC and a Zip win on Friday.

Great post and it reminds me of when Groce was asked what he wanted his players to do during the tournament his response was enjoy the moment. In 20 years the $38,000 will be long gone but the Akron players who stuck with Groce, Tevari, Lyles and Nate will have a memory of winning back to back MAC titles and going to the NCAA tourney two years in a row. As they get older, their hard work and teamism will be serve them well in whatever profession they choose and their championships will stay with them forever.

I just checked the box score and when you look at the individual stats, no player got credit for those 2 points and the game ended in a tie.

What a dumb rule.

Although I think it should have been Miami, I think any MAC win in the NIT reflects well on the conference so I hope that Kent pulls the upset and wins tonight.

I love it!!! Freeman has not been playing with the Pacers and probably just got called up. Amazing how he was able to come off the bench and sink both free throws. So in the box score Freeman will probably have 0 minutes and 2 points. Do not see that very often.

Do you think there might be other problems in the State that need attention other than their basketball team not making the tourney?

I just listened to the interview and it was a great. Interesting to hear that Groce's plan was to call a timeout but when he saw the runout he looked at the clock and saw Nate had time to score and kept the timeout in his pocket. The 3 guys that he has since frosh, Nate, Lyles, and TJ all made great plays to win that game.

Why do I think the F bomb will be used on the Miami Board after finding out that Kent made the NIT after Miami beat them in the tourney and during the season and they almost beat us in the finals. That sucks for them.

I also noticed that the Zips played 4 teams out of conference that made the tournament including Yale, St. Mary, Omaha, Alabama State.

I read the comments on the Miami Board and was surprised about 2 things. How they complained about the refs and how many F bombs were on that board. It just showed me how our administrators do a great job in keeping this board civil.
