Thank heavens for the ZN "Search" function. Hand is raised. Big Year for Nitro Can only hit 3's against the competition on the court CK, please pass the ketchup. My crow is a little dry. I'm not yet ready to crown McClanahan as the next Jimmy Conyers, but if he is, I'll gladly eat crow all year with a smile on my face. So far this year, McClanasaurus Rocks.

What we actually know is McKnight was suspended for 30 days. He didn't dress for a premier OOC game @ Dayton, although he was healthy, and his suspension was over. And, we know Euton fills a similar hole on the Zips squad - an interior big body with "instant offense" capability from the 3-point line. If I'm Brett McKnight, I see the writing on the wall. Suck it up, or get used to reduced minutes... or no minutes... in 2010-11. And I believe after the Millikin game, KD said Euton would redshirt because we already have a pick-and-pop guy in Brett. If one half of that statement changed, did the other?

And the Iron Man award goes to...all of us, for suffering through those announcers. -
Dayton game - free stream on FSO website

I believe the polls are officially closed. -
Isn't there stand up comedy everytime the Zips take the field anymore? More like lay down comedy.

Dayton game - free stream on FSO website

What am I missing here on BMcK? I assumed when he played against Millikin his suspension was over. Apparently not? Run seemed to start when Zeke left. -
Zips Cannot Be Accused of "Hot-dogging It"?
BirdZip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
At any point in time, did your gf say to herself--maybe I should leave and come back later? -
There is limited to no demand for football tickets. There is, though, demand for futbol tickets. Can you use the demand for one to put butts in the seats for the other? To answer the questions: No price change. Season tickets are already a good deal. What to add to the ticket packages? We will struggle next year to decide whether or not to get season tickets. We're only going to half the games as it is because they're so bad and our schedule keeps us away as well. Enter me in a chance for a trip to the Soccer Final 4 if I buy season tickets, then I'll buy. I'm an early buyer, but likely won't be next year. The fact that ticket prices were slashed so much this year kind of steams my clams. You penalized me for buying early. Why do it again? There are no premium games with this team right now. You have to have some big cajones to say that any Akron football game right now is worth a premium.

McClanahan was named the starter last year too--that didn't work out so well. And, as for the exhibition, let me just say that I coach 3rd grade basketball and when I throw myself into a little one-on-one with them, I DOMINATE! McClanahan to me is like my childhood tricycle. Man, it was pretty, and it went pretty fast for a trike, but when Mommy brought out that shiny new two-wheeler, the trike hit the curb.

Four pages worth of posts and no-one has yet hit on the best part of this pick-up. The name! I can already hear the Rowdies channeling Harry Belafonte... Ibi-TA-yo Ibi-TA-A-A-yo...

I agree, i would hope any new arena we build is at least around 9-10k. Our program is destined for BIG THINGS. If you build it for 9-10,000, you might also want to include the curtains that they use at the Q for the MACC so that it doesn't look as empty as it really is.

Yep, that third road game just killed the Huskies.

No reason to get excited either way. This is just a verbal commitment, and Dylan has already proven that for him, there is no "commit" in commitment.

This is a few weeks old from ESPN's Summer Shootaround. Keith Dambrot, Akron: Dambrot has made the Zips a regular near the top of the MAC, a conference that consistently is underappreciated. He has coached Akron to three straight postseason appearances, including an NCAA tourney berth two seasons ago. Dambrot has emerged on his own merit instead of being known as LeBron James' first high school coach. Akron will once again be in the hunt for a bid with the likes of Can't State, Central Michigan (with Trey Zeigler) and Ohio, which had a tremendous run last season to win the MAC tournament and upset Georgetown in the NCAA tournament. Also talks about Nick Kellogg and Trey Zeigler as "10 freshmen we can't wait to see". Unfortunately, we're nowhere to be found on the "Teams to Watch" list.

If I'm not mistaken, it appears that Brutus peed himself during the incident. Check out his shirt...

If this were a football team, we'd be 0-2, embarrassed, and playing in front of smaller and smaller crowds as the season wears on. Right now, Infocision Stadium is the silver platter but the football team is still a turd...

Should be plenty of freshly squeezed Orange juice available after the game...

Some quotes from MiamiHawkTalk: "For four years I wanted to punch this guy in the face and now he's one of us...I don't know what to think right now." "I hope he doesn't use his alma mater's method of OOC scheduling..." My daughter will be pleased--maybe she'll get to see him again.

LeBum affiliation with Akron Basketball
BirdZip replied to ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I think the effect of an association with LeBron is different depending on what you're considering the effect ON. An association with LeBron would have a positive effect on recruiting. Most people outside of NEO aren't seething right now. In fact, with LeBron in Florida, let's use it to tap into that market. May Coach I is kind of happy right now. As association with LeBron could have a negative effect on attendance. I don't imagine it would have much of an effect, but, at least short term, it wouldn't help. Oh, and my contributions to the LeBron name calling: LeBronedict TaLeBron -
Ennis opens up recruitment
BirdZip replied to zippyman23's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
Don't think we've necessarily lost Ennis yet at this point. Kid seems like he's had a good summer and there has been more attention on him lately. Sounds like he's just looking to see what other kind of opportunities may have opened up for him based on that. I guess you can't really blame him. Hopefully he finds his way back to Summit County Ohio. If he breaks a commitment, I blame him. If you don't intend to keep your commitments, don't make them. There used to be a thing called honor. -
Akron Tailgate Lot Priority Policy
BirdZip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
When you show up at the gate, they scan your ticket. I would assume that computer could then be used to tag each season ticket holder with how many games they actually showed up for. It would be interesting if people who actually showed up to the games got some sort of preference in return, all else being equal. Say what you will about the Rubber Bowl, and it was a hole, the tailgating was excellent. -
I am going to add you to my "not really totally sure about the proper use of commas" list...

2012 offer: Chris Harrison-Docks
BirdZip replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
if he keeps getting better there will be no way he will be at akron. we will see him at kentucky or duke or UNC. forget about him Dear Zippy_ua_00, You never really know. Sincerely, Zeke -
Yep, they got smoked, 7-1. I want the Zips to be the first MAC school to win a national championship anyway. Did I just hear a Rifle being loaded?...

If it doesn't work out, can we "Blame it on RIo"? Or he could be "RINO", leading our "hard-nosed" football team.
