  1. Best line of the day by Frenchie: "And the humiliation continues."
  2. By this logic, Buffalo's football team is in TROUBLE tomorrow... I'll grant that performance in the past three games may not be indicative of their future performance, but I just like my scenario better.
  3. Broekhoff is 4-17 from 3. Valpo is 15-55 from 3 (27%). They were 5-20 vs Arizona, 4-19 vs GA So, and 6-16 vs. Holy Cross. Not exactly shooting the lights out from downtown.
  4. It had seemed to me that a number of lower-conference or lower-profile teams were knocking off the bigger names this early in the season, so I went back through ESPN to look at the scores to date. There were not as many as I had thought (though there were a number of OT games or very close games that almost made the list). Best part of the list, though, is that, of the teams that have played the role of David, 3 are from the MAC and 2 others are on our schedule: Nov 9: Akron 68, Miss St. 58 Nov 11: Loyola Marymount 69, #20 UCLA 58 Nov 13: Cleveland St 71, #7 Vanderbilt 58 (58 was a rough score early on) Nov 15: K-ent St 70, WVU 60 Nov 15: Dayton 67, Miami 72 (maybe borderline here) Nov 15: Pepperdine 66, Arizona St 60 Nov 15: Middle Tennessee 86, UCLA 66 Nov 16: Long Beach St. 86, #9 Pitt 76 And all but Miami won as the away team.
  5. In truth, Wistrcill shouldn't have to fire Ianello. Ianello shoudl resign. how can you go two seasons, have as many wins over DI teams as you have losses to lower-level teams, and still cash your $500K paycheck? Do the right thing and stop stealing! And the key will be to hold onto this ire until next year when the university calls and asks you to renew your season tickets. A lot of people are saying now that they're not going to. You need to hold to that.
  6. My concern with Chauncey on Sunday was on defense--he seemed like a fish out of water. Offense was just a bad game, but defense was somewhat worrisome (on Saturday). I noticed too Egner's being open but not hit. Could be that he often displays hands like bricks so players may be a little hesitant to pass it in. Egner is athletic, but you can watch Tree for 10 seconds and see that he is amazingly athletic. Even though he missed the dunk, the lob to Tree was my favorite play of the game becasue of how amazing he looked doing it.
  7. Anybody know what the highest is we've ever been in this poll?
  8. Zeke has 2 blocks, 4 rebounds, and TONS of changed shots. A lot of State's shots are being disrupted. Zeke has been big this game already regardless of points.
  9. I called the ticket office to find out if my season tickets had been mailed. The staff told me that the tickets arrived late last week. They are not mailing the tickets before the exhibition game. If you want the tickets before the John Carrolll game, you can go to the tickets office at Infocision Stadium during regular hours this week. The staff said they will have all of the season tickets packages at the John Carroll game. The ticket office will mail any remaining ticket pachages not picked up at the JC game. John Carroll tickets are included in the season ticket price.Thanks. Very helpful. I'm an hour away so I'll pick up on game day.I wonder why the Ticket Office wouldn't send out an e-mail to season ticket holders so we understand the status. It's been a while, but I would think they'd have our e-mails or, if not, should ask for it for these reasons.
  10. Anybody know cost to get in? What about whether or not the ticket is included in the season tickets? I'm sure it's just a few bucks--just wondering since I haven't seen my tickets yet and it's getting kind of late.
  11. ....Or, they are the most unimpressive 4-3 team in the country. The have two wins against I-AA teams. They have been destroyed in two "rent-a-win" games. The were destroyed by Toledo. They beat Akron and CMU who have a combined win total against D-1A teams of....let's see....one.I'd still take their 4 and whatever over our inevitable 1-11.I would too, but let's not get carried away about the great "building process" English has going on at EMU. A bit of smoke and mirrors if you ask me.Relax, Dude. I was just taking a page out of the GP1 school of posting and stirring it up a bit. However, EMU knocked off Western this past weekend (with 9 passes and 50 rushes) and now find themselves in poisiton to be bowl eligible (!) with Buffalo and Can't still on their schedule.
  12. EMU last three years (under Ron English):2009: 0-122010: 2-102011: 4-3...Sticking with the process...
  13. The picture of Zeke's block in this article, along with the one from the ND game, could make for some good poster / marketing material. Stuffing it in the face of the "big guys"...
  14. After the renewal deadline next summer, they have a couple of days where you can go to the stadium and pick out your seats. They mark the available seats with a piece of paper. This year, many trees were killed to make that happen. Unless the Zips have a big turn around, I'm sure there will be plenty available. Did they use toilet paper?
  15. These games typically seem to be among the highest attended for the year. The fans of the lower opponents attend in droves.
  16. I was too busy marvelling at the fact that two of their running backs were Greene and White.
  17. Fran Fraschilla says Ohio Bobcats are poised to make a deep run in the tourney this year. Have they popped up on this Top 144?
  18. Comparisons of Nicely's and Moore's performances this year are silly. I would expect that Moore gets more snaps during practice than Nicely since he's the starter, so he has an advantage there. Nicely doesn't have a chance to get comfortable in a game, or find and exploit a weakness, etc. One or two series and he's done. In the OSU game, Nicely was 1/3 for 1 yd. On Moore's first 3 passes, he was 2/3 for a net of -1 yd. I can't find play-by-play for Temple but Nicely was 4/8. In the Cincy game, Nicely was 1/6 for 7 yds. On Moore's first 6 passes, he was 3/6 for 31 yds, but also an INT that was returned for a TD. Neither QB has shown to be all that good, and both likely suffer from the teammates they're playing with. Neither one has won anything here so why fight in favor of either one. If it's lunch time and my choices are boogers or dog crap, I think I'll wait for dinner.
  19. I don't have the stats, but can anyone tell me if this is actually that abnormal? If you include redshirt freshmen, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, that's five classes. If you average it out, you would expect one-fifth, or 20%, of your roster to be from each class. That would mean 60% would be made up of RF, F and S. 46 of 76 is 60.5%--sounds pretty close to expected. If the percentage was weighted to the juniors and seniors, then it would be weighted to the lower side in the following years. This stat is meaningless to me.
  20. That's because we stink. And New Mexico, by the way, is the answer to someone's earlier question of whether it is realistic to think a coach who won 1 game in each of his first two seasons would be welcomed back for a third.I notice that our first three November opponents are either on the list (K-ent at 8) or on the waiting list (Miami and Buffalo). Will we make our run in November?
  21. I'd like to restate the question. With a 450 page rule book, is it possible to do well and not break a rule in college football? While perhaps "Did you follow all of the rules in the 450-page rule book?" is one way to look at it, perhaps a more appropriate question is "Did you do your best to follow the rules?" If the answer is "yes" and you missed something, then you can make a case. If the answer is"no", then you get what you deserve.
