  1. Maybe their team is going about this game the same way.
  2. The reason the band has shrunk so much is that costs of education and living expenses has risen over the years and a lot of members are forced to work a good deal of hours. Juggling rehearsals and study time in there can be pretty tough when you still have to pay for school. The band will increase again in size as enrollment rises and the number of residential students increase.
  3. Based on how we did against army offensively, we are going to get our ears kicked in. That along with our field goal kicking, I will be shocked if we score at all. Unfortunately, we are going up against Jim Tressel and not Lloyd Carr.
  4. We should be hanging 30+ points on this team. No reason Army should still be hanging around. Offense is going to be a MAJOR liability this year. I'll be happy if we score at all on OSU's defense.
  5. flushes have me worried again.....we better be ready
  6. BQ will eventually be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Charlie Frye appears to be nothing more than a backup in this league. He makes mistake after mistake and it usually costs the team. I wish it were otherwise but as a Browns fan I want to see the guy that will help this team win and if Brady does it then so be it.
  7. This is perfect for the University. Get the city on board with the new arena and all of a sudden a new home for zips basketball may be financially feasable, and I'm sure it gives the city a major boost in entertainment with the amount of events that can be hosted. The zips have a distinctive advantage over some other MAC schools in that it can go to the city and other corporate giants in the area to partner up with big projects like this. Schools like OU, Miami, and Can't in the middle of nowhere need to pony up cash themselves. Toledo is similar to us. The University Park is another example of the agreement with the city, and I am glad we are working together.
  8. http://www.miamihawktalk.com/discussion/vi...pic.php?t=36509Turns out a regular Miami poster by the name of "KCRedskin" is an architect for HNTB architecture and seems to have been involved in our project ironically. Just thought that was interesting.
  9. Who the heck cares who the division I-AA champion is? Who even won it last year?
  10. Exactly....whatever. Wonder if the guy ever sees the field?
  11. This season is going to be ugly. We cannot keep a player on this team. I have no idea who half these guys are on our roster. I completely stopped following recruiting because what's the point? JD should start feeling some heat if we get this garbage again this season. So when does basketball season start?
  12. Even though this is only golf, this is very disturbing. What's going on here? We have a top notch facility, a world class course in Firestone, and we cannot hold on to a golf coach? I hope this is not a reflection of Mack and just a reflection of the situation whatever it may be.
  13. Can't say I sympathize with someone who throws away a tremendous opportunity. 20 some thousand of us students could only wish we had full rides let alone a shot at professional sports. Now the bum can enjoy flipping burgers the rest of his life. Too bad I can say the same about 75% of Brookhart's recruits. I'm a little tired of this.
  14. Jury is still out on JD as far as I'm concerned. Just ask Mike Thomas.
  15. If Akron makes the NCAA tourney and becomes a legit power in the midmajor scene a lot of people will want to be associated with us. But lets put things into perspective. Akron basketball has torn our hearts out for two straight years already. That's more demoralizing to a fan base than you might think. Then look at our football team. They get to their first bowl game, win the championship, and then they completely lay an egg the next year allowing the critics to say, "typical Akron". As I walked out of the Q on the night of our freak loss this one person summed it all up for me, and I believe what I said is exactly the reason why the apathy is still there. He said, "Akron sucks and I even go there". I had nothing to say in response. I was pretty pissed too. I bet you his tune would have been different if we pull out the game. He cared enough to show up to the game didn't he? Overall, the mood is pretty down with Akron athletics, and it even shows through among the diehards. The football team has not shown signs of promise, and the stadium they play in is bush league. The basketball team completely dodges the post season. Meanwhile, the Cavs are rolling in the playoffs and the Indians are playing pretty well. The Browns had a phenominal draft, and even our star Frye looks to be phased out soon. Naturally, people are not going to be too high on the zips, and that's pretty understandable. Can this be reversed? It sure can, but it takes time. I'm not necessarily buying into the theory that the campus improvements are not doing anything among students. The nice football facilities are nice and all, but the stadium will be a facility for both the team and the fans. The project is going to be massive, and will transform the dynamics of campus. Akron needs to start attracting a different kind of student, and not the wannabe columbus state troll. Of course, we'll still get those apathetic wastes, but if we can attract the type of students that maybe an OU typically gets we can drown out the apathy. We need help from our teams too. That's where we trust Dambrot and co. to help us in that area.
  16. Rybak for Jeter???? That's a nice upgrade.
  17. I think this is good news. We can do much much better than John Rybak.
  18. Big big big props for Mack if this is true. Nobody deserves it more than Dambrot.
  19. Where the heck do you guys get all this info?? They're not kidding when they say this is going to be the biggest project in UA history. Why doesn't the University just keep Gallucci open because keep in mind the new exchange street dorm will be done very soon. That's like 450 extra beds right there.
  20. Exactly....Dambrot is the man. Loyalty should be rewarded. Basketball is our best shot at getting somewhere.
  21. He probably knows more than the average poster on this board so i'll take it as that, but man, 2009 seems very early considering we have yet to even break ground or even make an announcement. Look at all the crap that needs to be cleared out of there and then we have to build the thing.
  22. Brady Quinn would put the browns on a national stage. We might have to consider him.
