  1. Good stuff from Thornton. Great veteran pickup by the staff. Could be a very important piece in how this thing plays out.
  2. Yup, exactly what I’m thinking. In OT with no clock in play, there’s zero reason to not look at it.
  3. That crew will get a talking-to by the league/consortium of officials. Egregious by the replay official not to buzz down to review the fumble in that situation. And the tackle in-bounds was bad too, weird that TV never showed the end zone camera look at it.
  4. Man I want to see a good look of that last EMU offensive play in regulation. I really think he never got OB. Should’ve won anyway. Can’t give up 80 yards of field position on a punt. Can’t have your own 11 yard punt in crunch time. Can’t drop a pick-6. Can’t commit dumbass penalties to extend opponent drives. If the Zips were a power 5 team, they’d be the headlining national laughing stock. All the tools to win some of these games. Kent, sure I’ll give them that. But not one other close win against the MAC through 15 tries now. We are Scott Frost’s Nebraska.
  5. This team is the greatest encapsulation of SSDD in the history of sports. Mind-boggling. What a ****ing stupid way to lose. Again.
  6. We’re about to lose 1/4 of the games on our schedule in OT.
  7. Real close. I’d like to see a straight down the sideline look at that.
  8. Well that 3rd down play was just about as bad a result as we could’ve had. Well, at least they forced the timeout. But still eternity left. Then another terrible special teams play. This team is hilarious. Just incompetent.
  9. The smallest, dumbest things are gonna cost us this one, aren’t they? Pick the ball off. Catch the punt. Can we finish??
  10. A game was played. I guess if anything, there was a stretch that was a good lesson in never losing your focus. Onto the Caymans, let’s win that damn thing for once.
  11. Quick blurb on the game re: EMU still fighting for a bowl game--https://www.ypsi11.com/p/emu-football-akron-bowl-game-2023
  12. They were going to play Vandy in Cancun before that event was canceled. That’s why we got the waiver to go back to the Caymans.
  13. Specifically with Butler, it was a program in its first season with a head coach who had been out of the game for a few years, a program that’s been pretty bad for a few years, and was in the toughest league in the country. Bad bad mix.
  14. A UA assistant told me earlier this year Ali admitted it was the wrong decision, especially to go where he did, and Ali took it upon himself to make sure the team would welcome him back. And they did with open arms. Whether he plays or not this year, he’s already added tremendous value in being able to practice with the team and provide guidance to the young guys. Things most people don’t think about. I much prefer this move instead of getting another Maishe Dailey or Trimble.
  15. Exhibition for them, regular season game for Akron. Typically how it goes. I also don't believe things like NET and KenPom take these games into account.
  16. But CSU wanted it more for most of the game. Isn't that what matters most? And you have to be happy for Kent. They beat a middling Mountain West team at home on a Saturday night. I have a feeling the Bulldogs wanted that one pretty badly, but I guess the Flashes wanted it more in the end.
  17. Hey! There's a game tomorrow! Unfortunately it overlaps with the men's basketball game against Heidelberg. But, it is on CBS Sports so we should all be home from basketball in time to see the end of the 1st quarter 😉 Zips are +5.5. Kick is at 7:00pm EST. This guy has been blogging EMU football for a long time. He writes some good stuff. Here are his QB power rankings after last week, they may surprise you a bit: https://www.ypsi11.com/p/maction-qbs-finn-undercuffler If the Zips can go back to playing turnover-free football, they should be in this one until the end. EMU's offense has struggled mightily for most of the year. They didn't record a first down against Kent a few weeks ago until some time in the 2nd quarter. Hopefully Lingard is back. I think he will be. As for the passing game, who the hell knows. Go Zips!
  18. The Flag is for wins over power conferences. Will not be happy for Tod K either, nor would I expect any long time Zip fan to be.
