  1. 35-0 Toledo over EMU with 4 to go in the first half. Just went 90 yards for another TD like it was nothing.
  2. That is a perfect analogy for the NIT’s decision here, good call! 😉
  3. As bad as Bullock is, he does look more confident so far. I like the throws down field too, but gotta give it to Lingard on first down there after a few positive carries.
  4. Refs knew the F’d up so they gave Joe a long leash with his vocab there
  5. Darrian Lewis is always there. Flag will probably take it away in some way.
  6. Very disappointed to see the Fisk-LIU Brooklyn game was canceled tonight.
  7. He once saw Oscar Rodriguez’ Zips play WMU close and determined Akron fired Arth too early. It’s a shame he gets these national gigs now.
  8. Yeah, this ain’t Kent’s defensive front. These guys are getting eaten alive now.
  9. Jackson finally hammers one, but coverage is a mess. I think Tucker will be out as ST coordinator after the year. He’s the only coach you ever see Joe ripping openly on the sideline, understandably so with some of their blunders.
  10. Yeah, bad read on that one. But with Miami selling out against the run so far, I don’t hate the playcalling. Still sucks big time.
  11. Thank the heavens we could last week
  12. I hope we go to JMU for the return. In fact, I’ll make that my official fearless forecast. Second pick would be Louisiana.
  13. WMU-CMU has been a blast as always. Great games in the MAC tonight. WMU still in contention for a bowl in Lance Taylor’s first season. They’re at NIU and home vs. Bowling Green to close out the year.
  14. NIU goes down to Ball State at home in the Battle for the Bronze Stalk. Field goal at the buzzer. Crack a few cold ones and head over to the NIU board if you want some free laughs.
  15. They’ve collapsed. They had no business losing to San Diego State even with Rourke out as much of that game as he was. They didn’t put up much of a fight at Northern, squeaked by a bad WMU team, and throttled by Gabbert-less Miami. Even with a win over UB tonight, they’ll be 7-3, but it’s clear they haven’t lived up to their expectations.
  16. He out-played Freeman for a lot of the game last year. And that was his first ever college game. Solid player, could be POY in the Summit League before he’s done there.
  17. University of the Sciences Beats Drexel I go back and read this piece every once in a while. A gem, from the man who last week watched the Zips win back the Wagon Wheel from the friendly confines of the Goodyear blimp, while wearing an Akron shirt!
  18. Line is hovering around 17.5-18. Miami is talented, big, strong, physical, and very well rested. This is one of the toughest opponents on the schedule, even without Gabbert. They went into Athens a week and a half ago and just bullied the Bobcats off the field, scoring 30 unanswered points at one point. It would have been cool to play a much more beatable opponent after last week, but beggars can't be choosers. Akron can still pick up a win, maybe two, to close out the year, but I wouldn't expect it to come tomorrow night. With that said, it would be great to see them ride the wave a little bit and make things competitive. I've thought all year that one win would catapult the team forward. Well, I didn't think it would take almost two months to get that win. Indiana, Buffalo, CMU, etc. etc. Last year, we saw very strong efforts the last three games of the season that gave us hope for this year. I'm going to try to not let these last few weeks of results give me hope either way for next year as I've learned my lesson, but wouldn't it be nice to see these guys make the most out of their last few weeks together? It's a shame they aren't playing for a bowl. No fault of anyone but themselves, I just miss playing "meaningful" November games that have stakes for us, as opposed to just playing spoiler. Go Zips
