  1. Shooooookyyyyy. Love that guy.
  2. Lingard and Bullock running the Penn State version of the Wildcat. I'll see you all in Detroit! 😅
  3. The thing that bothers me the most about this regime's approach to gamedays so far is the importance they place on the optics of everything. Guthrie himself speaks so much about how things look and how things feel. Noting things like can you see trash cans on the TV broadcast or do chairs on the floor have jackets resting on them. Small, silly things to worry about. I agree on Keith Kennedy, at least the spirit of it. Zips football games from 2009-2021 may not have been any fun because of the crap football, but at least the in-house production seemed well put together instead of the free for all it has become. I miss our old PA guy so much, hoping he is back for basketball and only told football to kick rocks. Maybe they should hold open auditions for this spot in the offseason? That would be awesome! Through 2 games, I have seen a few members of the staff and players on the sideline puzzled when they hear wrong names announced. The ineptitude at InfoCision Stadium has spread far beyond the football field. That said, I think these guys have done a nice job at the JAR for MBB games. Between moving and mobilizing the students and the new lounge area, it's at least a step in the right direction.
  4. I’m a prisoner of Akron football. Will be there early and excited like the 🤡 I am!
  5. This week's advanced box score: https://collegefootballdata.com/boxscore/401532412 (Postgame win expectancy based on box score and results: Akron-89%) As with most of the regulars on this board, I'm an Akron football die-hard. This team is my favorite team in sports (MBB a close second, basically 1B). I have proudly said that for most of my life at this point. I can take these losses with the best of them. But Saturday took more out of me than just about any loss I can ever remember. I still haven't been able to bounce back and I don't really have any interest in reading or watching any content this week. All of the national rankings/MAC rankings/Bottom 10s will have Akron at the very bottom once again, and I just don't think I can stomach that anymore. In 2021, Ohio came in at 0-4 with a home loss to Duquesne on their record, and they rolled over Akron as a 10-point favorite. This year, a Buffalo team that gives up 1.5 Million points per game came to InfoCision Stadium as an underdog, and handed Akron a nasty, ugly, embarrassing loss. Even as someone who wasn't that confident coming into the game, I was appalled. The blowout losses over the years are what have kept Joe Akron away, but repeated losses like this one are what could potentially drive me away. Along with that OU loss in 2021, I would put the BG and Miami losses of 2018, the BG loss of 2016, the OU loss of 13. Now, we have a new entry. There is no excuse for the display of ineptitude our poor souls witnessed on Saturday. Buffalo didn't look half as good as Morgan State, and Akron's defense put up one of its best performances of the last decade vs. an FBS team. Granted, they failed to force a TO, which led to losing the turnover battle 1-0, plenty enough to be the difference in the game. And I don't even want to get started on the late hit penalty that led to UB's only TD. I just can't even comprehend why a player would do that. You could give that young man from now until the rest of eternity to write a paragraph explaining his reasoning to do that, and he would never be able to come up with anything. Now, maybe they don't call that a penalty 10-15 years ago, but still. What in the name of our Lord and savior are you thinking?! While this team could fairly easily be 3-2 or 4-1, they have looked every bit of 1-4, or worse, between the boneheaded mistakes and utter incompetence offensively.
  6. Of freaking course BG does that. Terrible day to be an Akron fan.
  7. Bullock was in tears on the sideline after the game. Seemed like frustration. Would love to see that passion on the field. He deserves a shot at this point.
  8. To clarify, Joe is a football genius and is sought after for a reason. But there have been snippets where he’s even talked about how a lot of the roles of a head coach aren’t fun to him. Like I said last week, it’s almost like his time at Mississippi State. Just fine, but lacking a direction.
  9. Crazy man. Maybe he just isn’t meant to be as a head coach. Basketball could start tomorrow and it wouldn’t be soon enough.
  10. Yeah. Pretty much what I expected there. We is what we is.
  11. They wouldn’t subject prisoners to football this bad.
  12. Alex Adams has been MIA a lot of the season, now nowhere to be seen. Anybody got eyes on him?
  13. We deserved to win last week, we don’t deserve to win this week.
  14. Tallandier again??? Man oh man.
  15. Nice hold to a FG. Offense must do something now, UB has momentum on offense. I bet they wish they didn’t throw on first down there, been running it down Akron’s throats and that killed the drive. Need 6 here.
  16. Bad play call on first down was costly there. Rollout to the short side of the field deep in the red zone 👎
  17. Late hit on a 3rd down sack will be haunting. Game-costing mistake counter is at 1.
  18. Buffalo OL is starting to settle in
  19. McCoy is now a captain
  20. We’re debuting white goalposts at Infocision Stadium today it appears. Maybe looking to change up the mojo?
  21. Fun read: Ye Old Roundtable from Hustle Belt (MAC blog) https://www.hustlebelt.com/2023/9/29/23887762/ye-olde-roundtable-mid-american-conference-maction-football-mailbag-q-and-a-week-5-2023 Indiana blog submitted the DJ question, which was funny. Showing some love to the big Akron-UB matchup too.
  22. Jonas Nichols of Hoban has committed to Pinky
  23. I very much want to say I expect Akron to come out tomorrow and put together their first 60-minute game of the season, but I have been so beat down by the close losses and flashes of greatness along with the crushing mistakes and missed opportunities. If Akron can put together a solid 60 minutes, they will win easily. But Buffalo is no slouch, even at 0-4. They've got some nice individual skill players all over the field. And I hate that I have to say that, since this is a game Akron pretty much has to win. But at this point, I've seen Akron lose this game way too many times to get my hopes too high. The weather is going to be awesome tomorrow, we have a beatable opponent, some momentum from a shoulda been win over a B1G team, and the homecoming game next week. It's time to WIN, damn it!!! Go Zips!
  24. ESPN’s Bill Connelly SP+ model has Akron winning 29-28.
