2Ball Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Footballscoop.com is reporting Derrick Jackson has accepted a defensive position at Rice. Quote
Dr Z Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Maybe he was offended that iCoach did not select/interview him for d-coordinator. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Are we seeing the beginnings of a Defensive coaching staff overhaul? I'm not sure what these coaches did to make other schools want to hire them. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Are we getting rid of paid Defensive Coaches and hiring 38 year old "Grad Assistants" to help balance our Athletic Department budget? Crafty move. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 If only holes on the offensive line opened this easily on the field in 2010... Quote
72 Roo Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 If only holes on the offensive line opened this easily on the field in 2010... Amen. These coaching losses don't speak well for us as an up and coming program. But then 1-11 doesn't speak well of anything. Is Dr Z still available or does he want to go to greener pastures also? Looks like there is room for Vince and Dr Z now. Quote
InTheZone Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 If only holes on the offensive line opened this easily on the field in 2010... I think Patrick Nicely would say that holes did open pretty easily on our offensive line this year... Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Houston Chronicle story that confirms it. Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I'm not sure what these coaches did to make other schools want to hire them. I agree. Being on the Akron staff last season and at Syracuse for a few seasons prior to that doesn't seem like any kind of positive resume. Quote

What a staggering amount of losses Coach Jackson has endured over the past several seasons. He's lost more games than anyone on the K.e.n.t. staff over the same period. That's incredible. Good luck Rice...you'll need it. Quote

Any chance that the defensive side had a number of selections they wanted but icoach shut the door??? Quote
GP1 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Haven't even started year two and the rats are abandoning ship. Try hiring someone good after a 1-11 season..... Quote

Any chance that the defensive side had a number of selections they wanted but icoach shut the door??? I don't get the feeling that we were particularly choosy with who we recruited this year. With our DC, it was mostly a matter of him being a former Michigan player. He gets to go back to his alma mater to coach where he played. With our DL coach, I think it's just that Rice pays their coaches much more than we do. Quote
