Ricky Coble intercepts Ohio State's Scott McMullen, and races 87 yards to paydirt.

Zips pile up 303 yards of offense against Michael Vick's Hokies...in the FIRST HALF!

Brandon Payne's game-changing punt return TD against the Naval Academy (edit - Not BCS, but one of our more nationally noticeable wins).

You only get to count two there, Cap'n, Naval Academy is not BCS. Good news is that means you get to list another. :)

How is Dennis Kennedy's TD to beat NC State not on there? That'd be my number one.

Number two would be Alex Allen's TD run against the Orange that put the game out of reach.

And number three just because I was there and it gave us something to cheer was Deryn Bowser outracing the Penn State defense for a long TD.

1. (1995) Willie Spencer throwing a TD w/ maybe 10 seconds left to pull the Zips to w/in 3 of 14th-ranked Virginia Tech @ the Rubber Bowl.

2. Dennis Kennedy's TD -vs- NC State.

3. The entire Cincy game in our last year @ The Bowl. Just a hard-hitting, excellent all-around game. -OR- Stuffing Beanie for a safety & going into half-time only down 3-2 to Columbus.

2001 Charlie Frye to Jake Schifino touchdown pass against Columbus State, making the game 21-7 right before half. Gave us good momentum going into halftime. Unfortunately the Luckeyes worst pass of the afternoon went off the hands of freshman cornerback John Fuller at the Akron 35 and into the grasp of Vance, who sprinted untouched to the end zone. That was the lucky game changer. But that TD to Schifino gave me great hope, and was an awesome throw and catch.

I can't really argue against any of the ones above, but I'll add a few of my own.

1) Merce Poindexter catching a game clinching TD against Syracuse in the dome (extra special because I was there and Frank Stams told me and a buddy the night before that Merce would be a big part of the gameplan. As it turned out he dropped the 1st ball thrown to him which may have limited his chances, but he DID hold on to the most important one!).

2) Dwight Smith covering about 45 yards to run down a Michael Vick heave in the 2nd half of the game CK cites.

3) It was before there was a BCS, but clearly Va Tech is a "BCS program". Jason Taylor going off on Jim Druckenmiller and the Hokies and putting a serious scare in to the #18 team in the country in spite of having absolutely zero offense.

Ok. Brandon Payne busting into the Penn State endzone, closing the score to 14-9. As soon as he breaks the plane, Payne places his pointer-finger to his lips, "shhhh-ing" the suddenly silent crowd.

One of, if not our first actual game vs. a (now) BCS opponent.

All the Zips players who were recruited to play for the Zips and compete against the likes of Morehead State and YSU were suddenly facing the Auburn Tigers.

The game was on local TV, and I vividly recall the camera panning through the crowd and finding a lone Zips fans holding a sign that read "Just Let Us Score!"

Note: I increased the number to 4 memories, since I know a few of you are chomping at the bit to post one or two more.

I think it was '07 or '08 when we played the Suckeyes. I was on my way home from a cross country meet and my dad was giving me updates. He said we were up 2-0. I got to tell all my friends at that moment that we were beating the Suckeyes.

Also, the Syracuse win.

Beating NC State on that last second Kennedy TD.........Without A Doubt!!!!

Distant 2nd......Sittting at OSWho watching the Zips going into the locker room at halftime with a 3-2 score on the scoreboard, and watching 100,000 red and silver fans sitting there in utter shock.

Here's a few that weren't mentioned so far:

1. Putting 500 plus total yards on Wisconsin in 2003. I honestly believe in my heart if the ref had made the right call in the endzone (Bobby was in) we would've won that game. The 14 point swing was devestating and we had all the momentum before that.

2. Jumping 14-0 on Cinci in '06. For a quarter of football the Zips looked like one of the most dominant teams in America.

3. Brett Biggs to Jason Montgomery for an 80 yard touchdown pass against Purdue in 2005. Pulled the Zips within a touchdown I believe before things got out of hand.

I know CK said positive only, but clicking on your link JZ reminded me of a guy that robbed us of a potential BCS moment against Indiana, at home, on a gorgeous day. No comments needed in order to stay positive. But someday I want an official apology issued to the Lot Niners™. Carry on.

I'll add another one (sort of). Last year tailgating with the Kentucky fans. Although the game was terrible, the Kentucky fans tailgate before and after made the trip well worth while. Gracious hosts.

So many good memories. Well done everyone. I'll add one more. Getsy's perfomance in the fourth quarter against NC State.

Getsy and Jabari couldn't be stopped.

I remember a huge play by Harvey. Things didn't look so good in the second half and we really turned momentum around in the fourth.

September 19, 1987 at the Rubber Bowl. It was a great night to watch a game. Pierce J. blocks a last second kick to secure a 17-16 victory against EMU who finished the season 10-2. It was the Zips first year in D-1A and the first win against a D-1A team as a D-1A team. EMU had a good team that year.

Charlie Frye leading the Zips to an upset of then #25 Marshall. The game that only

Hurd players carrying Leftwich to the line so he could throw a key inception got any TV play.

Darron Alcorn kicking a 56 yard NCAA record tying field goal to defeat Toledo.

The incredible fourth quarter at NC State.

Any win of Cant State. My personal favorite being the infamous Thanksgiving day Snow Bowl.

Okay, that's four. So shoot me, I'm old and have more memories.

Also, the Syracuse win.

In fact, the 1st quarter ended with Akron leading 2-0. That was the week after Appalachian State beat Michigan, I think. The OSU fans were restless. The OSU offense was loaded that year but they could never get on track that game. They won because Akron generated almost no offense. Driving home from the game, the OSU fans on the sports talk shows talked quite a lot about how tough the Akron defense played. The Akron punter had a phenomenal game and kept the Buckeyes out of field position all game. Though it was a loss, it was very good showing.

The NC State game is the best, though. First BCS win.

I'm waiting for a BCS win at the Info in front of 30,000. That will be great.

Now that we get to list FOUR, here is one I haven't thought of in quite a while. A couple of weeks after the Zips threw the scare into Va Tech at the Bowl, UA scored a TD in Champaign just before the half to pull within 10-7 of the Illini. Who scored the TD for the Zips? None other than Jason Taylor, who played a little TE in certain situations during the 1996 season. Alas, the the 2nd half was totally different with the final score 38-7. But it made for an exciting 1st half and halftime.
