Blue & Gold
IMO it makes WV a "must" win now. +1. But these are interesting times. I've been a religious follower of UA basketball for about 20-years now, but the early-season success we experienced in beating a BCS team is uncharted waters for me. IIRC, we've always lost those early-season matchups. I'm still concerned about Valpo & Duquesne this weekend.

You can't always plan on how your opponents will do in any given year....but this OC schedule is shaping up to be pretty good. Our SOS and RPI will likely be higher than it has in many years. We have to root for programs like Detroit, Cleveland State and Wright State as they are programs that will come to the JAR. Wish Dayton and Xavier would come more often. Let'sGoZips94
I watched the beginning of the second half of this game. I wasn't impressed by either team. Can't looked sloppy and got many favorable calls in the first couple minutes of that second half. Can't shot 47% and WVU shot a little better than 30%. I don't know if Can't won this one, or if WVU lost it. WVU shot around 50% from the line and only made 2 threes. I hate Can't, and still am not ready to congratulate them on a win that, IMO, shouldn't have happened. That being said, this is good for Akron. As mentioned earlier, we play Can't twice and so does half of our schedule. Plus, I would have to imagine that the more CSUcks, Can't Statecks, and Akron win, the more attention Akron gets. The WVU game isn't a must win to me, but we should be disappointed if we don't win. Unlike past years where we've been happy with playing BCS schools close, this is the year I believe we will break through and get these big OOC wins. I think are among the elite mid major teams and have a chance to make a name for ourselves across the nation. Go Zips! Can't Statecks! CSUcks! akzipper
I was feeling good about this season until I heard about Can't winning. Pretty much makes our win over Mississippi State meaningless and will be overlooked by their win. Now I feel like we'll end up being a mediocre team, and like every year the MAC tournament is all that matters.

In the Preseason Coaches Poll, West Virginia received 13 votes, Mississippi State 11. Our win is every bit as impressive as theirs.

People at Can't State say that their wrestler's national championship overshadows ours. So of course they would think that a win over WV is better than anything the Zips have every accomplished in any sport.

The Zips are defending MAC Champions and are better in every way than last season, unless I was watching a different game than everyone else last week. While I haven't seen Can't play, I doubt there is a team in the league with the talent on the floor that the Zips have.

While I think the Zips have a small (or should I say 7 foot) advantage, Can't did look very strong. These games will be entertaining and competitive.
