I enjoyed the interview with Harney and the segment on Frenchy.

Nick handled himself pretty well, as I'm sure he was a little nervous. Dunn asked him to discuss things he's done well and things he needs to work on early in his college career, and Nick only got around to talking about the good  He talked about how patient he's been, letting the game come to him and KD agreed (as do I).

I couldn't recall when Steve started as the voice of the Zips, but he said he's been doing it since 1989. It just SEEMS like he's done it forever. He loves the Zips as much as we do and I'm glad we have a quality guy like him on the radio side, homer extraordinaire or not!

No disagreement. Just a comment your post brought to mind.

Steve French is a definitely a homer, but I think that's part and parcel of being a team's play-by-play guy as opposed to a general-audience play-by-play guy. He's not just super professional at being our eyes and ears; he's subject to the same emotions we are, which creates that real sense of connection and excitement. It's guys like Frenchie and Joe Dunn (and their counterparts around the country) that have kept and still keep radio such a great sports medium, even in this age of cable television.

I enjoyed listening to Nick as well. What did Nick mean when he said "I messed up.." followed by a hard cut edit. Editing is getting worse.

How could Joe Dunn interview Nick and not ask him about the "The Harney 20 Rule?" Catch up Dunn.

That had me puzzled, too. Nick was discussing how he looks at how the defense is playing the other Zip forwards before he enters the game, and he started to talk about whether the defense is fronting them or...... and I think he momentarily had trouble coming up with the words to describe "playing behind your man" (as opposed to fronting). You're right, they should have cleaned that up. But then I wouldn't have gotten a chuckle out of it :D

The spot with the strength coach tonight was much more informative.

I like how KD spoke about Q's family. That's a nice touch. He seems to care about his players.

I liked the conversation with and about Q as well. The fact that there's coaching background in Q's family provided some insight into his competitiveness. And Joe also contrasted Q's on and off court personalities. I liked Q saying "he's all business between the 4 lines". I have a better understanding of how and why he behaves the way he does during games, and I'm more willing to accept a few moments of "overdoing it" now that I see where he's coming from.

When Dambrot starts doing a show that is on the air 5 days a week and 52 weeks a year, you might have a point. Since we're only talking 15 shows, I'm sure KD won't need any vacation time from the demanding schedule.
No KD on Monays show. Coach Thomas takes over and comes up with "little guy on the stairs" referring to KD cutting down the nets! Classic.

Enjoyed the interviews with Blake and Deji yesterday. Worth checking out. Should only take 12 minutes of your time with a DVR.

FF until you see either Blake or Deji. You can FF past Dunn repeating multiple times "we tape on Sunday at 3:30, so we don't know who or where we play in the NIT." KD expressed his desire to play at home and on Wednesday, obviously we got neither.

Ahh, I didn't think it was on. I checked the listings and STO had preseason baseball listed; no Zips Basketball w/ KD.

Hopefully they'll play it again later this week.

I came to the same conclusion when looking through Massillon Cable's guide, but I decided to go ahead and see for myself. Sure enough, Massillon Cable had the Indians on well past 6:00 pm. I guess I'm just screwed for this (final for 2012?) show :wall:

I watched the coach’s show last night, and I have to say the segment with Tim Campbell (Director of Strength and Conditioning) was one of the more informative pieces I have seen. His revelation on how Pat Forsythe was slow to “buy in” to the merits of the program, only to turn that around this past off-season and become its greatest benefactor, was particularly enlightening given Pat’s huge leap forward (overall) on the court this year. Tim stated Pat increased his vertical press by 30% over last summer! It’ll be interesting to see the physical difference in Pat next year.

KD also acknowledged a few of the things that have been said recently on ZNo:

  • The team takes too many 3’s
  • If Kwan gets back to focusing on defense and rebounding (he has done a better job of this lately), his offense will come to him (the 3’s will fall more often when not focusing on them)
  • He wanted to use that 6th foul on Juice Brown with less time remaining on the clock (plan was for around 5 seconds left), but the inexperience of Antino apparently caused him to jump the gun (no mention of a possible 2 for 1)
