UAZipster0305
Gutty, gutty second half for the Zips. Congrats to the +1. I will be the first to say I am happy to be wrong as a doubter. It always feels good to beat Can't and especially to become in their house!
bUAkronG
Glad I kept faith in this team. Gritty performance tonight. See you all next week!
johnnyzip84
It's exactly the game this team needed to play. LOVED the heart and effort. Still lots of work to do, but hats off to the guys tonight! Go Zips!

Valpo Zip
This second half was so necessary at so many levels. Now we have a guaranteed postseason appearance and most importantly we are on the easier side of the bracket. I didn't want to see Ohio or Buffalo on Friday. Everyone else (including Can't) should be much easier. I I believe I believe that I believe that we I believe that we're MAC champs I believe that we're MAC champs I believe that we're MAC champs I believe that we're MAC champs... ksu sucks
Shout out to the Rowdies! Way to represent! The Rowdies were great. And about half the people in the lower "bowl" were zips fans. Gotta love it when you hear "Let's go zips" chants in Can't!

Dave in Green
In the second half, the Zips played great D and they played together as a team. That's the winning formula. Don't lose that formula.
Quickzips
In the second half, the Zips played great D and they played together as a team. That's the winning formula. Don't lose that formula. First half TO's: 14 Second half TO's: 3 That is the difference in the ballgame and the key for this Zips team. You value possessions and take care of the ball, you win ballgames. It is as simple as that. I said at halftime, that if Harney played 5 more minutes we would lose the game. I don't think I saw Nick on the floor at all the second half. Kid has to get his head right or he isn't going to have a very long career here. Finally, a HUGE shout out to Quincy...er...I mean Chancey Gilliam. Every time the Zips need a bucket in that second half, whether it was to come out of the locker room on a good note or to stem off a mini-Flashes run there was Chauncey hitting tough shot after tough shot. Valpo Zip
The key in the second half was keeping Nitro and Harney on the bench. Harney traveled 3 times in 3 minutes in the first half and Nitro, well... It is sooo much better when KD plays the hot hands rather than being loyal and family oriented and nice. Being nice doesn't win championships!

Being nice doesn't win championships! As I watched Nitro shoot tonight it occurred to me, I wonder if he should have his eyes checked? I'm serious, his shots look like he can't see the basket clearly. Probably a little late to suggest an eye exam is in order, but it couldn't hurt. Captain Kangaroo
Michael Porrini: “We won’t lose three times in a row (to Akron). I promise that.” K.e.n.t. should have been up by 20 at the half. They suck. I promise that.

I just hope he sticks around! Very talented and could be starting next year.

In all honesty I don't think he is very happy at all being in Akron. I just hope he sticks around! Very talented and could be starting next year. I said this a few months ago and got a bunch of angry responses: I'd say it's a 50/50 chance that Nick Harney will make his whole career at UA. He's lazy in practice, he only passes to his buddy (Tree), he turns into a black hole many times on offense, and he doesn't seem to be buying in to the "team" concept. Remember, this is the same kid who was suspended a few months ago and sat on the end of the bench listening to music with headphones on. All while wearing sweats (not even Akron sweats) with his hood up, not even paying attention. I lost any respect I had for the guy when he showed up to sit on the bunch while not even dressed up...let alone when he didn't even celebrate his teammates' success. I really hope that he does stick around though. He's a tremendous talent with HUGE potential.

I really hope that he does stick around though. He's a tremendous talent with HUGE potential. It's way too early to even speculate about Nick. He had a rough game. He's young. Sure he's going to be down right now on himself (despite the win). Nick and Tree came in as both rough around the edges kids. They came to Akron to grow together. The good thing is that it appears Tree is developing into a real leader on this team. Yeah, Tree had his suspension, but it seems like it's clicking for him lately and he's becoming a calming force for this team (like I said in the ZTV thread following the Buffalo loss, KD brought him out to the media after what was the most crushing loss on the year for a reason). And if anybody can relate to Harney, it's Tree. With that being said, I don't think Nick will bail at a couple of signs of adversity, when after all, this is his freshman season. ... And he has bounced back from tough games already this year. Overall, it was one game, and while it may (and you can argue should) affect his minutes from here out since it's all win or go home, no matter how this year ends, his future is bright. ... this team's future is bright. Let's not forget, a guy who has to be close to Chauncey was on here a couple of days ago talking about how KD was a POS. I'm sure a lot of people were questioning Chauncey's commitment after reading those posts. What happened, though? Chauncey bounced back with one of his best games of the season. It's a strange game when you're dealing with 18-22 years olds. One night they hate everything about the program, the next night, they go out and play a great game. And I'm sure that Chauncey and Nick aren't the only two who have gone through that ... I'd bet that just about everybody on this team has questioned why they were here at some point. Thankfully, this team has enough players who want to be here on a given night to allow the Zips to be MAC regular season champs. Does that mean a tourney championship? Not sure. The fact that they, even despite a 13-3 league record, only led at the half in five of those games, makes me question if they all can get on the same page, on the same night, in time. Can't scored within one point of their total in the second half as in the first half. Defense was excellent the whole game. It's hard to put the little orange ball through the little orange ring if you keep giving the ball to the other team.
zippyfan34
I was hoping one of the Abreu to Zekes dunks would make top plays on Sportscenter. Instead Porrini's "block" on Walsh was like #5. Very disappointed.

Very disappointed.Agreed. Wonder if Walsh has an egg on the back of his head this morning? I'll be happy to see Porrini graduate. If I were Ken+, I would run a lot more of my offense through that dude. If there was an award for "Use of Body w/ the Ball", I would give it to him. Just for fun: Go on Porrini's bio page on Ken+'s site, read the question that he answered "Between the legs lay-up." Classic Ken+.
burrdie
I was pleased to see the sports psychologist on the bench. This team ia a work in progress and it may take a few years to get everyone on the same page. I was happy to see KD patting everyone on the head or butt. I loved when Tree patted him back. tooo funny. The second half they looked like a championship team. They have got to start believing in themselves and their talent. KD has his work cut out for himself. I guess I think of this team as a split personality. haha Got my tickets for Friday and Sat., hope they can carry this game to the tournament.
