Dr Z Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 "Early in the season, Quincy volunteered to come of the bench, which is an attribute to his team-first attitude," Dambrot said Impressive (to me). Quote
Hilltopper Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 "Early in the season, Quincy volunteered to come of the bench, which is an attribute to his team-first attitude," Dambrot said Impressive (to me). He pretty much sacrificed his game for the good of the team. Well deserved honor in my opinion. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Here's where the sixth man seed was planted with Q last April: ..... Lastly I spoke with Quincy Diggs. Like Harney Q is immediately likeable, goal oriented and not overly serious about himself. He joked about his temper and the need to harness all that energy. Q set a long list of goals for himself. You can find it on the dry erase board in coach Weigand's office. Q knows that developing as an outstanding defensive player is key to earning his minutes. He also likes the idea of being that sixth man we so badly need. He sees that it gives him the opportunity to play multiple positions which is something he enjoys. I was asked to name the greatest sixth man of all time by a Zips coach. The answer is John Havlicek. Surprisingly, Quincy knows who Havlicek is. Knocked my socks off. ..... Original Post Quote
K92 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 I voted for GoZips as COY. Sorry KD. "I don't care who you are, that's funny right there." Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 How fitting that the deepest team in the MAC gets the 6th man award. And Zeke truly deserved the defensive PoY. He is the definition of a game changer. Quote
Class of 82 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 An interesting perspective from the Toledo Blade's MAC guy: http://toledoblade.typepad.com/falconfodde...son-awards.html Don't agree with everything, but well-thought out and well argued, imo. Quote

Well he was one of the 12 votes for Murphy. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Well he was one of the 12 votes for Murphy. He also would pick Harney over Q and Tree for 6th Man. Pretty much confirms he saw the Zips once this season...@ BG. Quote
akronzips71 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 He also would pick Harney over Q and Tree for 6th Man. Pretty much confirms he saw the Zips once this season...@ BG. Tree might have been a better choice. He made some key buckets and rebounds. But it does not matter, he WILL have his glory days. Quote

Or maybe he saw the second half of the first Can't game on TV. That was a pretty decent display of the Harney Factor at work, IIRC. Quote

Sine this particular writer covers BG, my guess is the Captain is correct. Harney hit the buzzer beater there. I think Scott Thomas is a very good player but I wouldn't put him first team over Zeke. Maybe a little more BG bias there. Quote

I think Scott Thomas is a very good player but I wouldn't put him first team over Zeke. Maybe a little more BG bias there. I would pick Harney as Most Surprising Player (MSP), simply because MAC COY GoZips said before the season that he might not be a contributor. Quote
PB1719 Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Did anyone notice that our hometown newspaper couldn't be bothered to to write anything about the postseason awards? Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 George Thomas with another quality article, this time on Zeke. Frenchy gave Thomas props for it on WNIR this morning. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 George Thomas with another quality article, this time on Zeke. Frenchy gave Thomas props for it on WNIR this morning. Wow. This article was excellent; best I've read in a very, very long time. Excellent work, GT. I'm going to start a separate thread with a link to this article, just to make sure all on ZNO see the link.
