The Hip Zip
As it may be over, I just want to recognize this guy for his great career at K ent. The guy just comes to play ball night after night without the mouth and theatrics of some others. He's been a classy player and should be remembered as such. Let'sGoZips94
What a great thread. My Dad and I were talking about the same thing. Greene had a solid night, along with a great career. Hats off to a classy player and good luck in the future Mr. Greene!
FromdaBurgh
U have to agree with everyone's comments about Justin. He and Zeke had a mutual respect for each other. I had a chance to speak with him after our win last Friday. He was polite, so respectful and spoke well of Zeke. I too hope he has a great year and much success! bUAkronG
Late in the game, Abreu was fouled hard by one of the Can't players. Greene was in the area and immediately helped Alex up and have him a pat on the back. Not that I didn't haven't respect for him before that, but I definitely gained some after seeing that. He definitely just came to play. Shame the rest of his comrades couldn't be like that.

Me and a buddy were discussing this on the way to the Q and during the game. With a team full of thugs, Greene is the one guy I have immense respect for. Good luck to Mr. Greene in the future! Tom Hagen
Greene is the man. Great MAC player. One of my favorites on other MAC teams, with Demetrick Shaw and Tim Pollitz. Just didn't have enough help or cohesion with teammates tonight to get it done. Hope he tears the CIT a new one and makes a mint in Europe. Go Zips! Next year should be amazing too.
Quickzips
One of the few Can't players over the last decade that I actually have some respect for. Postgame last night he went through the entire Akron roster and hugged every guy, then stuck around to shake hands and congratulate them all over again. Real class. Too bad his attitude couldn't have rubbed off on some of their other guys.

Loving how the Zips put us through the stress at the end!!

I'm pretty sure that is as close as I have ever come to full on cardiac arrest.

I'm pretty sure that is as close as I have ever come to full on cardiac arrest. Right! And to make matters worse, I actually hurt my back celebrating (I'm over 40) when I thought we had put the game away (Borat: NOT!) with 2:00 left. When K ent started coming back, all I could think about was limping out of the Q after a Miami OH-esque moment whilst being taunted by Can't State jerks. p.s. some old women near me had a "Boo the Roo" sign. You bet we threw down with them!
johnnyzip84
I agree with this completely as my wife and I noticed many of these gestures last in the game as well. I'm hard pressed to come up with ANY K.E.N.T. player in any sport who has won my respect like that.

skip-zip
I was rather surprised when Greene picked Alex up off of the floor. A very nice gesture of sportsmanship that deserves a mention, especially when it's coming from an individual player on a team full of bad apples. There's one thing that really surprises me about this thread in which we are praising a Ken+ player. And it prompts a question: Could it be that we are all starting to despise OU more than Ken+? I never thought it would happen. But the timing is GREAT, considering our opponent tonight !!
Dave in Green
When Rico hit a 3-pointer with 1:58 left to make the score 74-65, Porrini appeared to realize his promise of the Zips not beating Can't 3 times was on the line. He quickly brought the ball upcourt like a man on a mission, and never even looked for anyone to pass to. He went straight for the 3-point line to match Rico's trey. But Porrini was absolutely smothered on defense, and never had a good look. The ball barely hit the rim. I really thought the game was over at that point until the Zips started missing every shot and free throw they put up. But Porrini also had a missed free throw and a turnover after that. He had his chance to make his prediction come true and failed.
yazan07
Could it be that we are all starting to despise OU more than Ken+? I never thought it would happen. But the timing is GREAT, considering our opponent tonight !! Me and the guys I rode up with were talking about this on the way home. Can't is a fun rivalry, and I think among the players there is mutual respect for each other, but even Dambrot has said before that when it comes to OU, the guys on the team don't like each other. Pretty sure Rico and Cooper hate each other.
Dr Z
If Zeke likes (respects) Greene, than so do I. Good luck to him in the future. I'll always remember him as the nice Ken+ player that lost three times to us in one year.
Class of 82
Porrini didn't go through the handshake line at the end of the game. No class. To be fair, he was pretty much inconsolable on the bench. Glad it didn't come true, but he played his butt off to try to back up his guarantee. And not going through the line didn't seem to bother Akron. Nik went over and spoke with him, probably to wish him well and commend him for his effort. Very classy on Nik's part, and Porrini seemed both receptive and appreciative. P.S. What's so wierd this year is that the Can't and Akron match-ups weren't really very chippy this year. Hard fought and intense battles, but there always seemed to be an air of mutual respect that I haven't seen in a long time. Last night was no difference. Now tonight, however, may be a different story. The bad blood this year seems to be with the Bobkitties.
burrdie
I too noticed Greene picking up AA that was really nice. He seems like a quality guy. Someone has to challenge Coop tonight. They have to be tired after 2 hard games. This Can't team seems different than past ones, not so much hate. GO ZIPS BEAT OU !!!!
