One Word to Describe Your Emotions...

I think Im having one of the best emotions about the Zips upcoming season. In fact, Im having this emotion about the Zips athletic programs in general.

It isnt excited, because I like something to happen before I get excited and nothing has happened yet.

It isnt optimistic, because Im a naturally optimistic guy about most things and the Zips sort of fall into that group for me. Although, I would use the word "cautiously" to describe my emotions about the Zips football program. This program has nowhere to go but up, so we all should be optimistic about the future.

I used this word a couple of years ago to describe the basketball program after a good season. Im "interested" in the program. Everything about the program interests me right now. Im interested in the new offense. Im interested in the new defense. Im interested in seeing how the players respond to change. Im interested in seeing how well the players compete between the lines. Im interested in what players will have an impact in winning the games we win this season. Im interested to see how the players respond when things dont go their way or after a loss. Etc.

Lots of unknowns with this team going into the season. We are about to discover a lot of things in the next few months and Im interested to see what we discover.

What is your word?

I would go with

CURIOUS

I'm beyond interested, and optimistic, but I am curious to see exactly what difference having a real coach makes.

Bowden has made statements suggesting that he doesn't believe performance last year is indicative of talent. I think we have some examples that we can honestly look at last year that suggests there was something beyond lack of ability involved in the dismal performance.

So I am curious to see what happens when positive attitude and hard work come together. I am curious to see how aggressive Amato is on defense, curious to see who steps up as Freshmen, curious to see how it all fits together.

Thankful.

I am so thankful Coach Bowden came to town. He has already done many things that make me proud to be a Zip. A couple of small examples: Playing the fight song at practice during warmups because he thinks it's important for the team to know the words. Inviting the seniors to his house for a pre-season meal. Team pride. School pride. He has gone far beyond x's & o's.

We couldn't have gotten any more fortunate. He is going to make us a winner.

The team's slogan for the season is "believe". That's not an emotion.... So I will go with Confident. I'm confident that no matter the record at the end of the season, it will be a positive step forward. Confident that the players and coaches are giving 110% every day. Confident that they all BELIEVE they can, and will win.
