ZachTheZip
5'10" 190lb WR Anthony Lauro from Manatee HS in Brandonton, Florida has committed to play for Akron. Captain Kangaroo
How can he enroll early, and greyshirt? Once you enroll and take classes, your eligibility clock starts ticking. You have 5 years to play 4. Greyshirting is for non-scholarshipped recruits who enroll a semester after the scholarshipped members of their class sign, either with the promise of getting "the next available scholarship," or achieving a 6th year of eligibility (see D'Orazio, who enrolled in January, greyshirted, then redshirted). I don't know. Maybe they meant that he's paying his own way the first semester, and then going on scholarship in the fall.

Whether you pay or are scholarshipped, your eligibility clock starts with your first class attended. I guess you could consider early-enrollment a "greyshirt without benefits?" Ie. no "bonus" 6th year of eligibility possible. I'd just call it a "shirt."

If you can't get a 6th year of eligibility maybe it should be called a "short-sleeved shirt."
ZachTheZip
This article clarifies things. Lauro is expected to be gray-shirted by Akron, which means he would join the 2014 recruiting class. He said he will probably take classes at SCF next fall before enrolling at Akron in January, 2014. Captain Kangaroo
This article clarifies things. So it's pretty much exactly like D'Orazio. Good to know I still know what I'm talking about. I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Zipmeister
More on Anthony Interesting article. This may be the first time we have ever beat out Akron for a recruit.
72 Roo
Did we beat out the Akron club football team? I hear they are coming back and Anthony was to be their first recruit.

Blue & Gold
He might be the biggest get of this recruiting class. What are you saying? That Lauro is that good, or you're expecting this class to be weak?
ZachTheZip
What are you saying? That Lauro is that good, or you're expecting this class to be weak? I'm saying he's good. He also brings something to the offense that we don't currently have, but have need of.

johnnyzip84
Local story from Bradenton. The good news is they got "The University of Akron" part correct
GP1
Not much risk here since he doesn't have a scholarship. The kid had two knee injuries in high school. Not a good sign for ever getting a scholarship.
