UAZip0510 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Treadwell only played one year of high school basketball. He's in year #2 at Akron, with 2 years remaining. He's leaps and bounds better than last year, and progressively improved as this season went on. While Zeke Marshall was incredible in over the past two nights, Treadwell was the MVP. Next year with Marshall and (likely) Abreu gone, this will become Treadwell's team. I'm curious what others think...how good can Treadwell be next year, and by the time he's a senior? Quote

I would like to see him as a 25ppg 10rpg average by the end of his career. He is probably the only guy on this team that has star potential. I like Harney, but don't think he is consistent enough to do that. Quote
akronzips71 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Definite star potential. WILL be MAC POY before he is done. He has the physical attributes for a pro career. Just needs to improve his basketball skills. Could happen. The best thing about Tree is that he thrives on adversity. The more we get down the better he plays. Very few players have that kind of drive and determination. Quote
zippy5 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Tree will be in the NBA if he works as hard the next two years as he did this year. Quote

A big performance and they could grab him up after the Dance next year. I want him around for that 4th year LOL. Quote
MDZip Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Not sure what Tree's ceiling is but one of these days when he skies for a rebound he better be careful or he will smack his head on it. Quote
Quickzips Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 The one thing I don't want to see Tree do is fall into the trap that so many Akron bigs before have fallen into and try to develop himself into a 3 point shooter late in his career. He can be an absolutely dominant player from 15 feet in the next two years if he just focuses on continuing to improve. We don't need him floating around the 3 point line trying to be a stretch 4. Beyond that, he has to work on his free throw shooting obviously, and his 12-15 foot jumper still needs a little bit of work. Ceiling? I would say that he could get a shot at the next level if he continues to work on his game and play with the energy that he has displayed his first two years. I don't think you will ever see a 20+ point per game guy out of a Dambrot coached team, but he could be a 15-18 point per night guy with 10+ rebounds if he continues on the current trajectory. Quote
Dr Z Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 After standing next to Tree last night, getting an up close view, he reminded me of another person I stood next to once at the Q. He has the same upper body, arm and hand potential. Both surprised me what they looked like up close as opposed to seeing them from the stands or on tv. Quote

Agree with this 100%. If Tree can develop a consistent mid-range jump shot, he'll be unstoppable. Opponents try clamp down hard now trying to stop his post game, imagine if they had to respect a jumper and play tighter away from the hoop. Quote
Dave in Green Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 @Dr Z, exactly the comparison I've been thinking of. Ben Wallace was listed at 6-9, but admitted he was closer to 6-7 -- same as Tree. Wallace could earn defensive player of the year playing center in the NBA because he was physically strong and had incredible intensity, toughness and tenacity. Sound familiar? At 6-7, Tree could be an undersized but overperforming power forward in the NBA if he keeps developing like he has so far. A four-year career at UA would give him just the right amount of seasoning he needs to earn a solid spot in the NBA draft. Quote

Someone posted they wanted to see Tree @ 25 PPG. Not going to happen in KD's system. And that is a good thing. From our perspective, there's never too much pressure on a single player; from the opponent's perspective, they simply cannot focus on trying to shut down one man. Look how the system has survived the unavailability of Q & AA. We don't rebuild; we reload. Why? Because no one averages 25 PPG. Quote
