This is good for the MAC, and good for Akron. It says that you can play for a MAC school and still be taken #1 overall and make the big NFL money.

Even better, there's a good possibility that no Big Ten player will be selected in the first round.

Two star recruit from the MAC is the first selection in the NFL draft. I like in an interview an hour before the draft Fisher made viewers aware of the MACs stas on first round picks.

I'll guess OG Brian Winters from Ken+ gets drafted next, followed by Dysert. Winters might be selected today, Dysert Saturday. I wouldn't mind seeing the Steelers get Dysert with one of their 6th round picks.

PS Is anyone going to take someone from the Big Ten today, no player selected yet?!? Edit: I guess I fell asleep when the center from Wisky got drafted.

This is great for the conference, but for recruiting I'm not sure it really changes much. There's a ton of MAC talent in the NFL, so that's already a selling point. The problem is that if you're going to the MAC, we're not the top choice. I'm afraid we're still in the bottom half. I love what Bowden's doing, but boy does he have a lot of ground to make up.

I think it's great that the MAC had a #1 pick. Of course I do find this part of his bio on NFL.com funny and telling:

He fell through the recruiting cracks a bit as a 250-pound tackle coming out of Stoney Creek High School in Michigan

Hmm, now why would that be? Because he didn't end up at Alabama? The bias is amazing at times

Was nice to see this in the AP story though.

Miami, envisioning Jordan as the next Jason Taylor, sent its first-rounder (12th overall) and this year's second-rounder to Oakland.

No. Because he ended up at Central friggin Michigan.

Dysert drafted in the 7th round by Denver (Like I stated before the draft, I was hoping the Steelers took him in the 6th)

BGSU's Chris Jones selected in the 6th by the Texans.

OU's Eric Herman drafted in the 7th by the Giants

Fisher and Winters mentioned above.

Total MAC players drafted 5?

According the the MAC web site there were 7 MAC players drafted. Interesting that none came from the MAC champs and every MAC East school except the Zips was represented. I knew the East was better. :)

1st Round: OT Eric Fisher, Central Michigan (No. 1 overall), Kansas City Chiefs

3rd Round: OL Brian Winters, Can't State (No. 72 overall), New York Jets

5th Round: DL Steven Means, Buffalo (No. 147 overall), Tampa Bay Buccaneers

6th Round: DT Chris Jones, Bowling Green (No. 198 overall), Houston Texans

7th Round: OL Eric Herman, Ohio (No. 225 overall), New York Giants

7th Round: QB Zac Dysert, Miami (No. 234 overall), Denver Broncos

7th Round: RB Michael Cox, UMass (No. 253 overall), New York Giants

We should get credit for 75% of the Temple players drafted.

So the MAC only gets 50% credit for the UMass player?

Should be 25%

Dammit. I dont like this game. We just went from 7 to 6 1/4 draft picks.
