My feet are cold but my heart is warm. That was even more fun than beating Can't because the Zips were such big underdogs in this game. Having learned something recently from @Captain Kangaroo about reading body language, :D I can say with great authority that you could read the confidence in the Zips players from their body language. They played with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of heart. They looked like they knew they could win all game long, even when some things were going wrong, and they went out there and executed in areas where they've fallen short in recent years. What a great way to end one season and immediately go into recruiting overdrive for next season. The Zips are winners. It's a winning program. Bring on the talented recruits who want to play for a winner.

AKRON, Ohio -- Akron quarterback Kyle Pohl put the spotlight on the 2014 Zips season with an impressive performance in Akron's season-ending 31-29 victory over the Toledo Rockets.

5-7, 4-4 in the MAC, 3 yards away from 6-6 and two chokes away from 8-4. And let's not forget 4-5 down the stretch.

I was thinking the same thing. that close to 8-4 if the Michigan game was an win

A win over Akron secures a bowl game...that's enough motivation for our players. And it certainly overcomes the moral victory card. Akron does have talent to beat Toledo and if this game comes down to coaching decisions...we're screwed

As I said before. I stand by my original statement.

Akron was playing for just as much as Toledo. Moral Victories go a LONG way when you have a good coach, and players whom are hungry enough to win. Akron has not had a 5-7 season since 2007. That's not motivation enough for the seniors than what is?

All in all, the Zips outplayed Toledo. Could have easily blown it and they decided to win instead. Great job!

Sitting at the Akron airport and my feet and hands are killing me from the cold. Worth every second standing in it. The Zips wouldn't have dared to lose with me in attendance.

I expect you to start packing your bags to move back to Ohio tonight. Thanks.

Hasn't had a turnover in three games. He looked really good today. This guy may have turned the corner.

That was the most fun I've had at a Zips FB game in long time. That was the most fun I've had at a the Big Dialer EVER! I'm glad I brought my lucky charm to the game with me today. Might have to talk to Joe Dunn about spreading some magic dust on the field for next season. I sense a winning record in the near future. ;)

Slow day on zipsnation...

Zips playing tough.

Couldn't connect to either wifi

3 game winning streak and won 4 of 5. I'd say that's an improvement, especially after the past 3 seasons.

Thank you Cleveland Browns and Can't State Golden Flashes...the Zips have just become the best football team in NE Ohio!

Keep Bowden around and keep building that defense. Good things will happen.

So proud of these men, and so proud to be a Zips football fan. That was the best game of the year IMO.

This was the first year we had season tickets and boy did we pick the right year to start that.

Hopefully this notches us up the MAC totem pole and we don't have such a nasty schedule next year. We earned it.

Let's take a look at a couple of those losses.

Lost by four to 7-4 Michigan (ranked at the time)

Lost by five to 8-2 Louisville

Lost by a touchdown to 12-0 NIU

We beat Can't State

We beat a bowl bound 7-4 Toledo

We won the games we were suppose to (JM, Miami, UMess)

Couldn't be happier!!!

There's plenty of room for bandwagon jumpers, as long as you bring the ribs to the tailgate. ;)

I'm really excited about next year! I graduate in December, what an exciting way to end my college career. Saw this program go into the dark ages, and then climb back out again. Can't wait to be a season ticket holder!

Good for NIU but it may only be a one week phenomenon. They have WMU while Fresno has a better San Jose State team and both will face good but not great teams in their conference chmapionship. The AAC, the league that they need to stay ahead of, has no conference championship, which might work in their favor in this scenario. This will be interesting to see how it plays out.

San Jose State 42, Fresno State 41. But wait, that's not the final score. That's the HALFTIME score. Incredible shootout going on in San Jose with 1,006 yards of total offense in the first half.

This is a great game to watch.

Was this game televised anywhere? Disappointing that it didn't get picked up for the Game Plan. That's SO much better than ESPN3! :D

3 yards? It was first and goal at the ONE in Michigan. It was 3 yards away when we lost 2 yards on a 1st down run.

It was not first and goal. It was third and one. I was there, I remember. The pass was completed on second down, should have been a first down...and was originally called a first down...the refs stopped to do a review (after time ticked away) an then said it was third and inches on the one. We lost on a 4th down play.

There are enough errors in his article that I now suspect he is posting on Zips Nation.org under another name.

Fantastic win for the Zips.

I was there too. Just had the down wrong. The point is, we were on the 1 yard line before the botched sweep play. Not "3 yards away", as the poster stated.
