MBB Eastern Michigan Wed 2/5

Akron plays Eastern Michigan at home tomorrow night, and something inside the UA athletic department is starting to rupture my okole. This is, I believe the third game this year (2014) to be nationally broadcast on the ESPN Full Court (the Portage State, Toledo and @EMU games were on in Jan.) -- but the athletic department has not once provided this info to the public in their press releases on upcoming games -- they only list "ESPN3". This is on TELEVISION, folks, you don't have to look at the crummy computer screen! However, you DO have to put up with Michael Reghi one more time! : /

BTW -- whatever happened to our list?? It sucks lately! Maybe someone can tell us ol futs how to use the new system. No emoticons except smiley? No way to add a link like before... Is that why traffic is way down?

We needed to do the upgrade, as the old board was fast becoming non-functional. We will get this one up to speed, and it will ultimately be MUCH better than the old one, but it will take a little time.

Board posts are down 87% because Dave has a home improvement project and cannot post.

All the old functions are still there for me. What browser are you using? I'm using Chrome. When you use the add reply button a dialogue box should appear at the top of the response box. If you want more smileys just click on the one at the top header and the rest will appear in a box. Same for icons to add links, photos and other items.

I guess with all the ESPN networks/sister networks/other nonsense, they probably easily confuse the products as we do. I'm getting sick and tired of all the convoluted nonsense around ESPN. Let me be able to watch the games I want with a subscription on my TV, not flip through four different subscriptions. Annoying.

Click on the smiley and all the same emoticons appear at the bottom of the reply box. I made a how to add link in the Technical Support section. It's actually easy than before, but like most upgrades, its different.

PS Another home game, another snow storm. :ninja:

It needs to be clarified, tonight's game vs Eastern Michigan is NOT an ESPN broadcast. It's a TWSC (time Warner sports channel) production. As a service to non TWC subscribers they make to broadcast available to espn.

I understand some people don't get TWC for whatever reason. As for me I do and I never lose cable or Internet so I have never considered switching providers. But if I had this might be an incentive to switch back to TWC. We have more road games televised now than ever and I appreciate that.

As for the athletic department not promoting that the games are on TV, I think they want us to get out and go to the game instead of staying home and watching on TV. I think Michael reghi does a good job, I dust don't like looking at his hairline on camera.

I have AT&T U-Verse as my provider. I switched from TWC because I constantly lost my internet connection along with everything else and then it was days before they could make it out. U-Verse has been much bettter. The only downfall to U-Verse is this stupid contract with TWC because all ESPN3 MAC games are blacked out.

Exact same situation as me.

I probably would have stuck with TWC if I didn't lose my connection for several hours every week.

I have TWC for everything and I never have problems with outages. I had Att-Uverse for a year at my brothers house while I was taking care of him and it was constantly messed up. I would have gladly switched to TWC but it was not available in Massillon. I guess it just depends on luck sometimes.

Two weeks ago in Ypsilanti the Zips had a dream first half, hitting 8 of their first 11 3-point attempts while EMU missed all 5 of their treys and shot 7-33 from the field. While EMU roared back for 47 points in the second half, they had dug too much of a hole in the first half to overcome. Given the Zips' hot-and-cold shooting, it's unlikely they will shoot lights out in the first half again tonight. It's also unlikely that 4 of the 5 Zips starters will play 18 or more minutes in the first half. I'm expecting more of a grind-it-out defensive battle with lots of crashing bodies in the paint and more playing time for the subs. EMU didn't get a chance to see Kwan 2 weeks ago. Will he get a chance to make an impression tonight?

Well, thanks infofan! By what you write, I assume you mean the broadcast isn't created and owned by ESPN. However, it is very much being broadcast on ESPN network's Full Court, which is shown by just about every cable provider in the nation to those of us who pay a small fee ($9/mo in my home) for coverage. The bigger point I'd like to make is about the progress the program is making in putting games on the air for people who can't attend in person! This, by my count, makes the tenth ESPN broadcast of the season of Akron basketball -- so far. That has to rank up there with the exposure received by so-called national-elite mens bb programs. I think that KD and the program deserve some applause for getting our team this amount of national recognition. The relationship between the UA and ESPN is very important to recruiting and overall PR of the basketball program and the university. I was just trying, in my first post to tell the department that they also need to let the world know that Akron basketball is available in Hawaii, and Washington, and Arizona, and Florida, and in every section of America. Go Zips. Now please win.

How the Zips pulled that one out is beyond me. We gave Eastern every opportunity to win that game and the Eagles just pissed it away at the end. Perfect example of one team losing a game more than the other team winning it. I don't know what has happened over the course of these last two games, but we need to get back to playing the way we did a couple weeks ago.

Is my internet bad or does the stream freeze constantly?. I abhor the deal with time-warner, I have Directv and can't watch any mac-sports, what a dumb deal as you basically only have time warner customers where fox sports was on directv and time warner

My feed was OK until the 2nd half. It froze up about 4 or 5 times and I fell behind a friend, also streaming the game, by about 10-15 sec.

Zips should be charged with robbery. We're in EMU's head. Might be helpful if we see them in CLE.

So tonight the Zips:

Shot 32% from the field,

Shot 13% from 3,

Watched the bench put up a combined stat line of 2 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 4 turnovers, 1 for 9 from the field and 0 for 7 from 3,

and they still won.

About the only guys who had good games for us tonight were Harney and Tree (both played very well by the way and both put up double doubles).

I don't think I've ever seen a team that runs as hot and cold from 3 as this years Zips. Two weeks ago against this same team in Ypsilanti we were scorching from behind the arch. Tonight we took some of the worst 3 pointers I've ever seen. We weren't just missing by a little bit, we were flat out jacking up bricks. Thank god enough of them careened off the glass in the right direction for Tree or Harney to clean up the junk and get a few put-backs.
