Javon is POY. He is awesome, I think a first round draft pick.

Tree has turned into a monster. All of a sudden he has a jump shot!!!! Next years POY, this years MVP for sure.

Meanwhile, we scored lots of points, even without three players. They just scored more. In fact, they could not miss. We gave them some easy layups, but in fact they just hit an amazing number of shots. It happens.

@AkronZips71 This may be a little off topic but I didn't want to start a new topic...every talks about Tree's 5th year, can anyone how explain to me how Tree and Harney can have a 5th year? (I really don't know and have been curious about it for awhile).

It'll be all the more sweeter when we bust up Buffalo at home to Finnish the season with a 5-game winning streak, taking the momentum into the MACT. :D

To lose by a few baskets at Buffalo with a completely depleted team isn't bothering me that much this morning. I hate that our usually-good defense gave up so many points, but as Keith pointed out in the postgame interview, Buffalo's guards were shooting uncharacteristically high percentages from the field. Put that together with our tired players, and it just wasn't our night.

Joe D. had some pretty scathing things to say on the radio about Hurley's behavior. I'll have my eye on that when he comes to Akron.

Long story short, players lose a year of eligibility on the front end when they come in as non-qualifiers, but they can have that 4th year of eligibility added again on the back end if they demonstrate that they are on a path towards graduation.

If we were at full strength, we'd still have lost at Buffalo. It's simply a Universal Constant. The Hipsher Curse. Call it what you will, but it's always an "L."

Now it's off to the rest of the season...

It should be a fun Saturday night. OU has experienced their fair share of injuries too.

Tree is great, but McCrea is a little bit better. There's no shame in saying it. Doesn't take anything away from what Tree is, I expect him to be as dominant in his senior year as well.

Thanks for explaining Skip!

In plain English, everyone understands that Buffalo was at full strength last night while the Zips were missing two important players (Nick and Reggie) for the whole game and a third (Jake) for the final quarter of the game when he's usually relied on as one of the Zips' closers. Despite all this, the Zips lost by only 6 points on a floor where they've had trouble winning even when playing at full strength, which qualifies to me as a gutty performance (YMMV). And, of course, everyone also understands that all excuses are unacceptable.

Both teams played hard

On which end of the floor?

I wasn't upset with losing at Buffalo in a fairly close score. But, if I had to pick something that was troubling...maybe even alarming...it was our effort defensively. Being short handed or fatigued can't be an excuse either, because it started early. That was an NBA-like defensive effort, from both teams, but it was particularly uncharacteristic of a Dambrot Akron team.

This is the first game that made me realize how much we miss Zeke defensively. They took to ball to the hoop repeatedly and scored. When Zeke was in the middle the ball would go back in their face. I would like our team to go to the hoop on back cuts and ball screens.

We have outside shooters, McAdams and Kretzer, post players including Tree, Pat, and Big Dog. Our guards do not penetrate well although they did ok on Wed. Q and Harney and Tree are the only players that can slash and get to the hoop. That is why we struggle offensively if we are not hitting our 3 point shots. The other teams clog the middle and we have a difficult time scoring.

I would love to see Chetam put on some muscle and learn to take the ball to the hoop. He has a perfect body for it.
