zippy5
Our best game of the year, and still a little short handed. Outstanding. This is what scares me about Buffalo:We need to score 80 to beat them. That's asking a lot of our offense. But, we've done it against them twice. I have to wonder if we'd be capable of shooting like that again, if we have to play them in Cleveland. We didn't need 80. We needed what, 72? zippy5
Seriously though, what a game from Q. If he can keep it up, tree stays locked in, and we get our secondary scoring from Nyles, Reggie, Big Dog, Harney and hopefully Jake, why shouldn't we win the whole damn thing again? Beat Can't and head into the Q with some serious momentum.
johnnyzip84
Disappointed in the size of the crowd, but we did get pretty loud when appropriate Loved watching Tree clinch the game from the line. He deserves a lot of credit for putting in the hard work to correct a previous weakness.Q played like the player we saw early this season. He was simply a monster tonight. This Buffalo game came at the best time for the Zips, who, to a man, looked to be the most inspired I've seen them perhaps all season. Hurley's off-putting manner has already been mentioned by several folks, but I'll say this - he makes the game a lot more entertaining! I think I'm going to enjoy his stay in Western NY.I don't think we could have asked for much more out of Reggie. He hit a three and played enough (13 minutes, including several during crunch time) to start getting his legs back.Mrs JZ84 summed it up the best - "this was the best game of the year". I concur. Now bring on the bums.
zippy5
Hurley is such a clown. I've never seen anyone complain so much. Outside of message boards.. Anyway, dude spent half his timeouts with the refs instead of coaching his team. I think he has legitimate anger problems.
Captain Kangaroo
Good things happen if Evans can hit the open three. Tonight was one of those nights when he was "on," and I am grateful -- Ibitayo had some nice blocks. He's not a good shooter when he has a hand in his face -- Buffalo's Oldham IS a great shooter when he has a hand in his face. Drained three 3's in Forsythe, Big Dog and Tree's face. Nothing but net - Javon vs. Tree -- edge went to Tree tonight. He won. Tree is doing it all -- Tree's full court bullet-pass to a streaking Harney was one of my favorite plays of the season -- Credit Dambrot for rallying the troops and putting a Chauncey Gilliam-esque woodshed beating on the Bulls. Captain Kangaroo
I really thought he substituted well tonight -- Hurley is a dickhead. He is so hateable in defies logic -- Diggs plays so much better when he's pissed off. He seemed to have a genuine Tuesday night hatred for Buffalo. His passing blunders drive me nuts, but man was he fun to watch tonight -- Welcome back Nick Harney. Played well at both ends of the floor tonight. -- This ref crew sucked the fun out of the game. I am so tired of every contested shot in the paint being a foul, and every clean steal being a foul -- The Daisy Duke dance team outfits are a keeper -- Seeing Coach Peters on the bench is a gift every game. I hope to see him next to KD in Cleveland
Captain Kangaroo
Resounding "Boo" to the Clevelander being our team bar in Cleveland. Expensive and packed. Will Zip81 be able to get us hooked up at the bar next door again? -- Liked Reggie's 13 minutes tonight. Hope to see him for 20 minutes on Friday -- This team seems hell-bent on beating K.e.n.t. I think the swagger is back. I look for a 20-point Zips win on Friday Night -- I am the "Carmelo Betancourt" of Chuck-a-Duck. Frenchie should wear a helmet when I throw.BAC the Zips! Note - Issues with the new board caused me to separate everything into multiple, successive posts. Not what I wanted, We'll need to figure it out. GoZips
Hurley comes in with a reputation for being a punk, and letting his players act similarly.Correct.Steve French pissed me off in the post game show when he stated that he intends to vote for Javon "I cheap shotted Jake Kretzer"McCrea for MAC player of the year. Based on what? McCrea's dominating performance tonight? Bull crap. Mc Crea got intimidated and shut down by the REAL MAC Player of the Year, Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell.Six thumbs down for your lamed ass comment you non-Zip radio announcer. GoZips
Yes, even Joe Dunn commented about Hurley's behavior after the road game at Buffalo. This is a call-out to the Rowdies over by the Buffalo Bench:YOU GUYS BETTER BE GETTING ALL OVER THAT JERK TONIGHT !!I sit at the far end of the "gym" away from the Rowdies. I loved their long and loud needling "Bobby's gonna cry" chant.Six thumbs up to the Rowdies.

Justin Moss was the one on the play. You can call it a cheap shot if you want (it wasn't) - but at least address your anger at the correct player. And do you want to go to the numbers between Treadwell and McCrea? Ok.PPG:McCrea - 18.4Treadwell - 14.9RPG:McCrea - 9.9Treadwell - 8.8FG%McCrea - .568Treadwell - .453Free Throw %McCrea - .674Treadwell - .633Assists per game:McCrea - 2Treadwell - 1.8Steals per game:McCrea - 1.56Treadwell - 1.0Blocks per game:McCrea - 2.22Treadwell - 0.87So...... ubxcretired
Some light reading regarding the Kretzer- Justin Moss incident:http://blogs.buffalonews.com/campus/2014/02/ub-akron-game-wrap.html?ref=bmhThis from the reporter sitting courtside for the game at Alumni.Extenuating Circumstances: The Zips were without forwards Nick Harney (suspended) and Reggie McAdams. Sharpshooter Jake Kretzer suffered a four-stitch cut and a concussion in a second-half collision with Justin Moss's elbow. And the Zips showed UB little of their zone. The rematch March 4 in Akron will be interesting.

Dave in Green
UB has a short memory. Can someone bring up the video for him?To my knowledge there was no clear video of the kidney punch McCrea landed on Jake from behind in Buffalo last season as there was of the sucker punch Chris Singletary delivered to Nate Linhart's gut in a Can't game a few years ago. Singletary got tossed from the game after a video review, which the refs apparently didn't have available to them in the McCrea incident. Jake's a tough guy, but the kidney punch left him crumpled on the floor and hurting for days after. The refs reviewed video of the Justin Moss incident and ruled it was not a foul. Moss had jumped high to tip in a shot, and Jake was just standing in the wrong place when Moss came down with his elbow extended from taking the shot. Hilltopper
It looks like Q was right about being "turned loose earlier in the game'. The other thing that I've noticed is how much better Evans has played since he has started playing at shooting guard instead of at the point.
