RowdyZip
So here we go. The rivalry renewed, again. Less than 500 tickets remain. Zips were upset on the road in the previous meeting by a fluke banked 3. Win this and wipe that game from memory while clinching the #4 and a bye to the quarterfinals. Lose, and its likely #5 and a much longer, and unlikely, road to CLE and Saturday night. No pressure. The team showed that it is capable of beating the top of the league, even shorthanded. Can they do it consistently? Ken+ will probably show up for this one. Add to it that George Thomas is reporting Kretzer is like done for the season, this is as close to a must-win as possible. Lets hope the big crowd is as electric as the 3,220 from Tuesday's game.
ZachTheZip
I think a big reason the crowd for Buffalo responded well is because Buffalo brought some students and vocal parents. If Can't brings a few loud fans, but doesn't bring much of their regular crowd (with their down year it's a possibility), I think we'll see a nice and active crowd again. Hopefully everybody at the Buffalo game saw how much fun it was to actually cheer and they decide to bring it again.
zippy5
Buffalo had 7 students standing there.. I'm not sure that was what did it.
skip-zip
I don't know about everyone else, but Hurley was the reason I was getting so fired up during that game. I haven't yelled that much in awhile. My voice was horse for 2 more days.
Balsy
Down in the lower bowl there was very vocal parents...the students up above were relatively quite. Mostly because they arrived at the game late, and by the time they go there, Akron was running away with it.
GJGood
Ok, so lets bring the conversation back to what is potentially the most pivotal game to our eventual fate this season. What is the key to winning tonight?
MontrealExposloveZippy
Tree needs to stay out of foul trouble tonight as he had to go to the bench multiple times during the Buffalo game. Additionally, if we take care of the ball and hit 65% of our free throws, there's no reason why we can't win on ESPN2 baby!Go Zips!
skip-zip
What do you expect? Ken+ can be awful, as they are this year, and the outcome can still be unpredictable. As we found out in Ken+ in January. I hope....that the improvement in performances over the last 2 games, and the return of some manpower, has us moving upward at the time of the year we need it the most. Play defense (including stopping the dribble drives that killed us the last time).Hit at least 30% of our 3-pointersWin the battle of the boardsCommit under 15 turnoversDo this, and we easily win by double digits...and the "I believe" will start while there's still a minute on the clock
Dr Z
What is the key to winning tonight?Score 67 points, win. Ken+ sux.
zippy5
Really hoping Q stays hot. If he goes into the Q (hehe) hot, and Tree does his usual thing, I don't see us losing.
ZachTheZip
Just play like they want to win.And try to limit Forsythe's time playing defense. He gets burned by athletic players.
Captain Kangaroo
If Evans can hit his open looks, we'll win. If he doesn't, and Ken.t can slack off on the perimeter, Tree will get stifled. We can lose.McAdams can obviously help there too, but I can't see him playing more than 20 minutes. The other guys need to hit their open looks. Or in Harney's case, don't shoot the 3 at all. Finally - Whether or not Dambrot's chioce of the word "quit" was correct or not, the Zips played with no sense of purpose vs. OU. Even Tree went through the motions, putting up soft shots underneath when no defensive player was nearby. Conversely, they played with great purpose against Buffalo. It was a completely different team vibe. If they play with that intensity again, we win by 20.And we've sucked on ESPN2 thus far. It would be nice to put on a good show for the people on the BW-3 bar stools across the nation tonight.BAC the Zips!
skip-zip
And try to limit Forsythe's time playing defense. He gets burned by athletic players.I'm glad someone brought this up. He struggled at Ken+ in the earlier game, and played very few minutes. He's not faring well on the offensive end either. Maybe we're fortunate that the air ball he shot from 2 feet away on Tuesday night was his only field goal attempt.

tpsjugglerdude
The key stat to the game is the first one to 60 wins.
Dave in Green
The key to winning tonight is to play with the same level of energy and intensity as the last two games against Bowling Green and Buffalo. In their first meeting this season it was Can't that had a high level of energy and intensity while the Zips appeared to be shell-shocked and back on their heels. Playing for the #4 MAC tournament seed should be all the motivation the Zips need to take this game a lot more seriously than the first one. Eagle66
I just looked on Ticketmaster and I'm surprised there are still upper reserved seats left (GA seems to show pretty good availability too). For the game against Ohio those were sold out a few days in advance.
GJGood
Should Kwan play at all? I think he has looked good at times, especially when he has played very little (or not at all) the game before.
zippy5
Kwan has a very bright future in this gentleman's opinion, but I believe his role the past stretch of games was to be the 3 point guy we were missing. With Reggie back and Nyles hitting at a good clip, I don't think we'll see much of him until next year.
ZachTheZip
Kwan had an incredible debut game, and has done little since then. I think he needs to alter his play style to fit his size. He would make a great SF if he developed some moves to get to the hoop from the perimeter, but right now Deji has stepped it up and Harney is back, so I don't see him getting many minutes there, and his outside shots aren't falling. zippy5
Wistricill on 1350 right now - asked about projects 3-4 years down the road. Said obviously an arena is always being discussed, but also they're really looking hard at a nice practice facility. Mentioned the JAR is always busy with womens bball, cheerleading, volleyball, etc.
RowdyZip
Just read Bo Boroski is officiating tonight. Why would the MAC pass up a chance to embarrass itself on national TV? Buckle up, Zips fans!
ZZZips
Just read Bo Boroski is officiating tonight. Why would the MAC pass up a chance to embarrass itself on national TV? Buckle up, Zips fans! How does having Bo at the JAR embarrass the MAC? He has only worked 6 other MAC games this year. Were they all disasters? B10 teams love this guy. Z.I.P.
Quite simply-dimply: Deji will make the difference -- especially if Quincy continues his inconsistency. And I would sure have liked to see Kwan get a few minutes vs Buffalo. I think we can use what he brings (especially without Jake) - but he will always be a Euro-style wing, not a '4'. Dave in Green
Bo just blew his image by giving Coach Peters a big hug, as did the other 2 refs. Cool sight.
