9100 Attendance

Are we really gonna have this conversation again??

the attendance for the game is paid attendance.  Translation = tickets sold.

That means Summa may get 1000 tickets per game as part of the sponsorship. Infocision as well.  Add up all sponsors and their "complimentary" tickets as part of their program and you can "adjust" the final number.

Pleasr stop with the "yeah but there weren't that many butts in seats" comments.  They don't have to actually be there to be counted.

Thank you for your attention.

Please move along.

But it's another chance for people with nothing better to do to gripe and complain...

My buddy and I actually bought tickets twice.  I'd bought GA tickets for will call pick up a month back, but when we found we had to wait in a several hundred person line that wasn't moving to pick up our tickets about 30 minutes before kick off, we decided to just go to the 3 person line to buy another set of $15 GA tickets.

So I guess the two of us counted as 4.

Please note that my reply to that post was prefaced with..."most of us already know what can be counted towards attendance".   If anything has become redundant, it's not the discussions about attendance, but the posts by people who decide to educate us about facts we already know about what is regarded as "attendance".  In fact, I am directly involved in one of those situations you describe above.

I think it's legitimate on a sports forum to point out a huge disparity between actual and "paid attendance", when someone witnesses it.  And that's why I commented on it.

I also think it's pretty legit to post things on a sports forum just for a laugh.  Every time someone does it, it honors the memory of Zipmeister.

22,811 with 13,711 no shows.

So, what would you say was the actual attendance?  I knew it wasn't 22k, but I don't trust my ability to estimate.  I defer to those of you who apparently have had this discussion before.

Also, what would you say the percentage breakdown was for Akron/Iowa State fans?

Al, I always like your style!  Will call line is too long, so you buy more tickets.  Problem-solved.

P.S.  I don't think I ever saw you in Lot 4.  Did you make it to our tailgate?  I was on the north end under the tree with the truck and U-Haul.

you know. You just convinced me that Everyone who read your post was much smarter than me.  And didn't need to be told that there are two ways to reach the attendance requirements.

My my first post in years and now I remember why I stopped participating on this board.

Bunch of Condescending arrogant posters on it like you.

I won't make this mistake again

go ahead   Have fun all by yourself  on the board and at the stadium.

Simmer down.

So, You basically came on here just to tell everyone to stop talking about the actual/paid attendance topic, and mocked our understanding of the facts that determine attendance.

Then when someone responds to the contrary to tell you that we already know all of that, and find it to be a legitimate discussion, you think that's condescending and arrogant?

But really, that was all pretty mild stuff, up to this post from you, compared to a lot of what I see on here.  And I am one of biggest advocates here for keeping things clean and non-personal.   If that fairly mild level of comment and rebuttal is that disturbing to you, and caused this kind of reaction, maybe you're right that your participation here may just not be for you.  But I hope you continue to support the Zips.

Ok, I will take your Morning Quiz.   So, here's my guesses.

It was really hard to tell because the crowd was scattered around much more than a normal home game.  There were no sections that actually looked filled in.  Very strange.

5,000 - Zips Fans

2,000 - ISU Fans (your band helped boost that number).  But we appreciated the number of people who made that long trip.  Those are some dedicated fans.

1,000 - Woke up that morning and put on some other shirt color and wandered to Infocision for something to do.

(This number includes those who wear all of their Suckeye gear to a Zips game because they insist "It's GameDay for Ohio's school that really matters")

Total - 8,000

Skip,

We live in a strange time right now.  On one hand, I think you have a pc culture gone crazy and in the other hand you have a resistance movement being non-pc for the sake of being non-pc.

The pc agenda has seeped into every aspect of our society.  Everything is offensive to somebody somewhere.  It is quasi-censorship.  It used to be that the left said "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it". No one is saying that anymore.  Polarized America wants to silence opposing views.  It is the opposite of the tolerance doctrine that is preached to us everyday.

Strange days, indeed.   Most peculiar, mama.

I think Skippy is close, but a little lower than my guess.  I say more like 7,500 Zip fans, including our band, I think he's spot on with the ISU numbers and I think the casual visitors were in the  2,500 range.....my total guess, IMHO is 11,000.

Yeah, I introduced myself to you actually (my name is Al).  I had a red t-shirt with leaning Cy on it and a ball cap with the old tornado logo.  I'm about 6'1 230ish with brown hair.  My buddy Pat was a little shorter and heavier set than me.  He had a houndstooth I-State hat on.  I guess I didn't say my screen name.  We got there around 8 and Pat helped you on the grill while I helped your Akron connections prep the sandwiches some.  You gave me a glass of Cyclone OJ (which was delicious).  We stocked one of your beer cooler tubs with our case of Yuengling.  We talked with Jeff Johnson quite a bit under that shade tree.

We were at your tailgate for a good 3 hours, I'd say.  Great time and greatly appreciated your efforts.  We waved passing the U-Haul on Sunday AM, but I don't think you saw us.

I think we have a legitimate shot at hitting whatever average they want to.  Phantom sales, y'all!

Clueless newcomer. We might be able to hit 10k before the University and whatever sponsors buy tickets to meet NCAA guidelines.

Kreed's probably right.  We've got two Tuesday night games in November that will sorely impact attendance.

I understand how the tickets work, they are sold tickets, not butts in seat but I have been at all games & attendance is up.  So we are avg. over 20k a game right now.  The school doesn’t buy tickets till the end to get the avg up to 15k minimum so there is a chance they may actually hit it, only need 10k a game from here on to hit the 90k needed
