zipsoutsider
My Keys to the Game:1.) Woodson needs to be resilient. The Utah State defense is going to make plays. As long as he stays confident, and doesn't compound his mistakes, we are in good shape.2.) Jerome Lane needs to make an impact. He needs 7 catches and a TD or two. If he has 2 catches for 38 yards, the Zips lose.3.) Newman Williams is the wild card. Healthy for maybe only the 2nd time all season, he can be the key to us moving the chains with short yardage dump passes. And, blocking to keep the heat off Woodson.4.) The OL needs to limit crippling penalties. Especially in the red zone. 5.) The D needs to do-what-they-do. Coe stuffing the run. Brown wreaking havoc. Marcus and Pittman pressuring off the edge. If the front 3/4 are effective, the secondary will get some pick opportunities.6.) Milwee needs to play-call aggressively. Bowden too. If the Zips try to "manage the game" offensively and try to win it with defense, like they did vs CMU, they'll lose. This is my biggest fear. Bowl games are crazy...you see teams down 28 points mount comebacks and win all the time. Fight the entire game and good things will happen!Go Zips! Beat the Aggies!Mine are a little different, as I predict this to be a CMU/Ohio type of slugfest.Tommy needs to be patient and wait for the opportunities. Keep making plays with his feet when he has to but don't force the ball. They have an excellent pass defense. Be willing to throw it away. It isn't popular, but we will need to use Zach Paul as a part of the game plan to help get us into favorable field position. I don't see us giving them opportunities by going for it on 4th and short at mid-field, too often. This might be a game where 1-2 seized opportunities by either team determines the result. The key to us being able to score comes on the run game. We have to find ways to move the ball on the ground. This will help keep the defense fresher and open up opportunities for the pass. My guess is that Utah State will want to force us to throw first. So we might have to complete a few passes in order for us to be successful. I am expecting a game plan similar to Can't State with lots of short routes to move the ball. I am confident in the progression of our secondary and expect that They will do what they need to do. There has been an even greater cohesion and a level of aggression exhibited by the defense that reminds me of Secretariat: "a tremendous machine." Continue to contain big plays and play like the beasts they are. Play clean: minimize penalties, protect the ball, a clean kicking game, in particular clean snaps, holds, and kicks.I expect Utah State to have a decent fan presence at the game, but not one that will really determine the outcome. Good luck boys! Go get 'em, Zips!

Here's hoping the players have a great trip, come back with a win and that momentum is building for sustained success. BOOM.

RowdyZip
One last comment. Anyone coming to the UA/Downtown area, come join us at the Score draft room on Exchange across from Infocision. We need people to give high fives to. And no, I don't know anyone tied to that bar, they're just very pro-Zips and I think we should support that.
johnnyzip84
I agree that Newman Williams could be a very effective weapon today. It's a shame he was hurt most of the year, because he really is a match-up problem for smaller DBs (and I've read USU fans lamenting over the diminutive size of their DBs). Maybe NW35 will have a day like another Zip TE in the only previous bowl appearance.Maybe I'm putting too much credence into the notion that the Aggies might come in with a little less to prove, but I'm feeling pretty good about the Zips chances.Zips 24Aggies
