I'm excited for this season, though I don't really have a reason why. Just a good feeling.

YSU doesn't strike me as a team with much depth. If Akron can't beat a team picked to finish at the bottom of the Horizon League, it's going to be a long season.

Akron's shouldn't really be challenged until the Creighton game on December 3rd. Nobody they play up to that point is expected to be "good".

Edit: Now will they be is another question. We will have to wait and see.

I'm thinking the Zips will go 7-4 heading into MAC play. Probably have losses to Creighton, Gonzaga and UCI. Then, add in one of those typical Zips head-scratching losses like Green Bay last season.

I'm counting 13 games before the start of preseason games. 2 of the games are part of tournament so opponent TBD, but we still have games those days. I say we go 10-3 losing to Creighton, Gonzaga, and someone random (UTEP or UCI).

This is where I'm at.  We'll go chalk but lay one egg.  Always do.

Hard for me to believe that the Pengs have kept Jerry Slocum around this long. Thought they would let him go last year as YSU has been mediocre at best for several seasons now.

YSU has no interest in investing in basketball.

Watching this Kent-Cleveland State game and man is Cleveland State pathetic.

Freshman Mitch Peterson of Walsh Jesuit looks real good, though, for Kent.

This game is going to OT.

I am surprised that we have not seen Daniel Utomi.  He played a couple of games last year before they decided to redshirt him his freshman year.  I wonder if he is hurt.  We started with 3 guards, Robotham, Anitno and Josh Williams.  Ivey was first off the bench and went on a scoring binge.  Big Dog looks good and Kwan started hot but has cooled off.  Youngstown is keeping it close and looks like a good game.

I'm just wondering if this means that a Top 16 Ranking is out of the question?

Seriously though, giving up 90 points to YSU tells me that Keith and the staff have a lot of work ahead of them with this group.  Maybe Reggie, Jake, and Pat meant a lot more to this team last year than we're willing to admit.

And please, I don't want to see any "That's OK...March in Cleveland is the only thing that matters" replies.
