zvillezip
The D won the game while the offense tried to lose it.
1981 grad
That is 2 weeks in a row that winning ugly is still winning. The Chips have a terrible pass defense and we could not pass on them. Maybe it was the weather but the guys were not open and the long ball was not there. We only had one decent drive the 2nd half that resulted in a missed field goal. The defense had a great goal line stand and we had a penalty free first half. zipsoutsider
Just listened to post-game presser....Bowden is not happy. Agree, though, a win is a win and 4 or 5 years ago we would not have held on for the win with such monumental mistakes. The bright spots were seeing the D step up, especially underclassmen, a little better run game from Van Edward's, and Knight as a threat in the return game. Stewart and Andre William's are playing fairly well, considering their inexperience. We need more from upperclassmen on offense. This may require us to do some more creative play calling and running Kwad from the backfield. I wouldn't mind seeing Knight and Kwad lined up in the backfield for a reverse or a fake reverse. We are starting to see Kato take off with it and run, more. This is essential for us to be successful this year.

ZipsVoice
Question - couldn’t see the replay on TV of the Bubba fumble-almost-runback that they called an incomplete pass. Was it?

zvillezip
Terry Bowden after the game was asked what he thought of his team’s offensive execution. He responded that he was in favor of it. Did anyone see what Walter Brady did to get ejected? The referee said he had an unsportsmanlike then another for hitting the ref. JK about the Bowden remark.

I didn't see it (other side of the field), so I can't reply. I thought he played one of his better games before having to leave.
Let'sGoZips94
Imagine how good we would be with an actual offense... This defense is fantastic. They have to go away from Kato. I have no idea what the justification is behind playing him over Ramart. On top of that, Milwee does a great job of magnifying Kato's flaws with atrocious play calls, including down-the-sideline throws that require pinpoint accuracy, which Kato doesn't have. Why we don't throw over the middle more is beyond me. I'm with a previous poster - Bowden either gets rid of Milwee, or they go together.
GoZips88
NIU over BYU 7-6 in Provo. Bowden and his little Wizard of O Milwee had better come up with a game plan that has plenty of YAC. NIU is VERY stingy against the run and has played a decent schedule. KN has got to put the ball on the mark including leading receivers better than he did today (just a little more loft please? Take notes from what Syracuse QB is doing to NC State in first quarter alone today). We have got to turn it up on offense if we expect to finish a run to bowl eligibility. Congrats to our D for another excellent effort today. They deserve better than they're getting from the O. A receiver dropped one of his good passes down the middle which would have been a TD. That second to last possession after the goal line stop ... First down Kato attempts a short pass that is almost intercepted at the 3 yard line.

zvillezip
First down throw a bomb. Second down run for two yards. Third down throw a bomb. Hope to hit a bomb or punt. That seems to be Milwees offense. Once we started running the ball decently it opened up the middle for passing, then we started fumbling. I’ve seen enough Milwee to know I’ve seen enough Milwee.
