MAC tourney general discussion

Looking at post season projections and clearly we sealed Toledo’s fate to the NIT tonight. We also know the victor tomorrow night is going to the Big Dance.
What about Ohio and the team that falls short tomorrow night? There are two other tournaments out there this year and it seems to me a MAC school could be, and should be, represented in each. The CBI this year is all at one site so there is not the pay to host situation that there was in the past. The former CiT is still held on home floors.

I just have heard very little said about these tournaments. I expected to hear Buffalo mentioned as a possiblity here after the Zips knocked them out but it has been silent.

The CBI will probably want KSUcks.

I am seeing projections that have teams like Western Illinois and Rice playing in postseason tournaments. I would take any of the top 5 in the MAC compared to those schools.

Ohio is senior led so maybe they would not want to play but younger teams should want to extend their seasons as much as possible.

Hoping the Zips are in the Big Dance but whoever wins tomorrow night both teams should be playing beyond Cleveland.

Ohio is done. Too tired and beat up.  Carter and BVP have old legs.  Time to retool in Athens.

Very nice incoming freshman class but they'll be freshman...hard to see them being immediate impact players.  I'd expect Boals to go after a couple of topflight transfers and edge out a couple of underperformers, including Ben Roderick, who started.  We didn't have our starting center, Dwight Wilson, this year, so hopefully he'll be back in form after a year lost to an acl.  My question for tonight is whether a bigger program comes after the winning coach.

I don't see it happening unless the winning team goes on and makes some noise in the tourney.

Groce is well compensated and has a team of mostly Sophomores. He could really build a resume these next 2 years.

Pinky's pay-to-expectations ratio is one of the best in the country.

I don't see either leaving.

Not sure if this is the spot for this question, but w/e...

Does anyone know what the eligibility for players look like going forward? I know some players were granted a 5th year because of Covid...so that would be 6 years with a redshirt year?

I'm just curious because as I was going through the rosters of MAC teams...Akron is young, the core is Sophomores (?) so 2-more years of terror for the MAC? Or 3 years?

Toledo is also a relatively young team as well. Sorry if I'm horribly ignorant on this...but the MAC Championship has be invigorated and interested in College MBB again!  Go Zips!

The core will have 2 more years after this. The sophomore designation is accounting for the extra year with Covid for the likes of Freeman, Tribble, Ali, and Dawson. X and Wynn would be seniors next year.
