Depends on the school and what is going on during the visit, but it’s a way for the school to roll out the red carpet and put their best foot forward. Prospects will be shown how they will be used in the scheme, shown what life would be like on campus, go to a game (like MBB or another sport that may have a nice turnout), hang with current players, meet with the academic team, etc. Official visits are paid for by the school.

Each school pushes whatever is their best selling points. SEC schools do their best to get prospects on campus during the season so they can attend home games and experience the environment. Pregame prep, walk to the stadium, sideline access, etc.

Akron usually has the player & family in for the weekend,  Nice hotel in Falls or Fairlawn.  Each player has a player from the team as a mentor to show them the night life on campus.  UA usually utilizes the Hall of Fame for a visit on top of the things @catdaddypsaid

This heavily depends on the coach/program.

JoeMo's Program...

family time board game GIF

Hugh Freeze's Program...

Project X Party GIF

Nobody rolled out the red carpet bigger than Rick Pitino with his strippers and prostitutes

This has to be an asset. Every football player's dream is to end up in Canton, and to start a career just 20-30 minutes north of Canton is a storybook beginning for those that do.

"Here is Jason Taylor. He played football and basketball for Akron, then had a Hall of Fame career with the Dolphins. It is possible to reach these heights while playing collegiately at Akron."

If you're going to the basketball game today, be sure to offer your congratulations 👏.  And say how good he would look in blue and gold!  Campus visit this weekend to UAkron.

And I forgot they have a formal dinner with lights on in the stadium so they can look at the stadium from the top floor & have all the equipment & uniforms set up to show swag

Bump for a few commitments (not to the Zips) over the weekend.

Also, Akron currently stands at #87 in Rivals Team Rankings and 5th in the MAC. Kent State is now last in the MAC.

5th in the MAC!  Is that because we only have 17 commits?

Number of commitments and how many stars those commitments have. Right now, the rankings only account for high school and JUCO commitments. I’m not sure how the portal will correlate, but Rivals says it will eventually.

In other news, there is still a chance Lester Miller rejoins the fold.

Yes it seems like the staff is still engaging with him on twitter, he hasn't committed elsewhere yet, and hasnt had any additional offers roll in. Fingers crossed.

Yep, I spoke with him. He’s still in communication with the staff. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

He just tweeted that his recruitment is 100% open, so we shall see

Doesn’t seem like he really wants to be here. Guess he’s trying to get what he thinks is best for himself, but doesn’t exactly project like a player who would spend his career here if he would recommit.

Totally agree, my thoughts exactly. Even if he ends up a Zip, I wouldnt be exactly excited about him anymore
