Take the W!!!

Sounds like a nice contingent of Zips fans were at the game!

When the screen went white on the goal all I could hear was a big cheer and I thought WMU had scored. 🤣😀

I'm asking as a former pig skin player, did the official let WM get away with too much physical play?  We seemed to mimic them as the game progressed.  If all the pushing and bumping is legit, I think we will see more of that in the future.  That seemed to take us off our game.

Physicality has always been our Achilles' heel. During the prime of the Porter days, we would always outclass our opponents skill wise. Most close matches occurred when the opponent was more physical (i.e. blOSU). I hate that style of soccer, but it is what it is. I didn't think WMU was too physical. I actually was more annoyed with their flopping.

Agreed.  Our current Zips squad is actually pretty physical compared to most seasons historically.  While we may lack a Simon Spelling or a Perry Kitchen, this current roster has players willing to mix it up.  I do not think WMU was overly physical.  Some Bronco teams in the past were outright thugs.

NOW, this upcoming match Monday vs. BGSU will definitely not be one for the meek.  There will be blood.  Players, wear a mouthpiece.

quotes from WMU coach included in article

https://wmubroncos.com/news/2022/10/13/mens-soccer-broncos-fall-to-no-20-akron-1-0.aspx

Wiseman - "Overall, I thought the players left everything they had on the field. Akron is a talented team that has beaten many good teams this year, we will need to learn from this match and be better the second time around, later in the season."

WMU turned the pressure up in the second half, outshooting the Zips 6-0, but were unable to find the net.
