catdaddyp
Any day now Rivals should come out with the class composite rankings (HS/JUCO + Portal). I requested once more for all the JUCOs to be rated, so we’ll see what comes of that. Here is how the rankings currently stand with a number of JUCOs unrated. In parentheses is the amount of points that are available if all JUCOs were to be given a rating. Buffalo = 945 (15 - 45) CMU = 885 (0) Toledo = 810 (0) EMU = 795 (45 - 135) WMU = 795 (30 - 90) Akron = 765 (105-315) Miami = 765 (0) NIU = 750 (45 - 135) Ball State = 660 (15 - 45) Ohio = 615 (30 - 90) Bowling Green = 585 (15 - 45) Kent State = 540 (30 - 90)

Meaning none of the remaining Zips were updated. If that ever happens, at bare minimum it puts the Zips tied for 3rd place (EMU would need all 45 points and NIU all 90 points for the tie). Really nice class and that doesn’t include the portal players. Buffalo = 945 CMU = 885 WMU = 840 EMU = 825 (15-45) Toledo = 810 NIU = 780 (30-90) Akron = 765 (105-315) Miami = 765 Ball State = 690 Ohio = 615 (30-90) Bowling Green = 585 (15-45) Kent State = 570 Edited July 31, 2023 by catdaddyp

catdaddyp
Here’s Rivals new feature of comprehensive team rankings for the 2023 class. And MAC rankings. I’ll go ahead and spoil it. Akron is #1 in the MAC and #89 Nationally.
Zipmeister
Apparently Rivals puts out lots of these rankings. The ranking I'm seeing has the Zips in 9th and Canada dead last. https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2024/midam/football/recruiting I like what catdad found better. Zipmeister
I see Rivals provides some explanation for their rankings: looking at the link cat provided I see - The Zips are ranked second in the MAC with 17 transfers with an average rating of 2.29 and five 3 stars, Canada is ranked first in the MAC with 11 transfers with an average rating of 2.09 and one three star. Oh, now I understand, that makes perfect sense!

Oh, now I understand, that makes perfect sense! The comprehensive rankings take the highest ranked 25 players (plus any bonus points for top 250, which no MAC has) and formulates the rankings. One stat that stands out is Akron has more 3 stars (9), between the HS/JUCO class and portal class, than any other MAC school.

It actually Kent that they have as #1 and the difference between them and the #2 Zips is not clear to me. Edited August 8, 2023 by Zipmeister . Right. Kent is listed as 1st in the transfer rankings, as you mentioned. That one goes by total points, similar to the HS/JUCO rankings. Can’t argue their portal class was much better than their HS/JUCO class. Better than Akron’s? Doubtful, but we’ll see.
Zipmeister
I think there are 133 FBS teams. Rivals only has 100 ranked. What happened to the rest? Edited August 10, 2023 by Zipmeister .

Dropped Idaho like a hot potato (potatoe if you are a Dan Quayle fan). Added Sam Houston State and Jacksonville State (Conference USA must be so proud). Also added Coastal Carolina.
catdaddyp
Anyone watch the Ball State/UK game? Freshman Kadin Semonza (quarterback) showed out. Wasn’t the case of UK playing their backups either as they left their starters in for the full game. Looks like multiple schools (including myself) missed the boat on this kid. Ball State has UGA up next and they’ll probably start Hatcher again, but Semonza is a name to follow from here on out.
