Educators are valuable, but also need to know when to stay in their lane. My recollection is that there was pressure by the educators to hire Scarborough over Tressel as President due to lack of doctorate or whatever, and that may very well have been the worst hire in University history. 1 Quote
egregiousbob Posted August 8, 2024 Author Report Posted August 8, 2024 Scarborough hire was entirely on the board and, in particular, the board president. Idiots. Quote

When your options were Scarborough or a Football Coach, your selection committee has failed you. And lets be real here: Scarborough was hired to be a hatchet guy. Period. Fullstop. He wasn't hired for any other purpose. To be a hatchet person for an incompetent BoT made of political appointees. Edited August 12, 2024 by ZipCat 1 Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted August 14, 2024 Report Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Like so many, I was quite dismayed when Scarborough was brought in, and I was thankful that his stay was brief (who can forget the presidential home and the $556.40 olive jar). But in retrospect, maybe UA would have been better off in the long run had those deeper cuts been made at the time - get the bleeding over with so the healing can begin? Just a thought. It may take some more time, but I believe the U can be "right-sized" eventually. Edited August 14, 2024 by johnnyzip84 5 Quote

To me, the provost almost sounds like he knows Gary was planning on leaving. But I could be interpreting it wrong Quote

It's was reasonable concern about whether or not he was the guy to make the cuts. Quote
