Wyoming alumnus and fan here.  Another UW alumnus is accompanying me from Virginia and we’ll be pulling into town a few hours before kickoff.

Question No. 1:  What’s the parking situation on game day — where’s the best place to park?

Question No. 2:  Any recommendations on places to eat before the game?

Any recommendations for places to stay, good restaurants, and sights to take in while in Akron?

Thanks in advance.  Looking forward to the game.

Lot 9 along Exchange street is the best tailgate lot. I'd expect you can enter for $20. Lot 10 would be your alternate. Across the street (on Exchange) is Europe Gyro. It's probably the best place to get something to eat/drink immediately around the stadium.

I'll assume there will be roughly 10k at the game if the weather is ok. You'll have no problems finding a ticket.

Where are you staying? How long will you be staying?

The player families and football alumni usually set up to the left of the scoreboard if you are facing the stadium in lot 9, near gate 1.  Look for a larger group of people with some akron flags.  Please stop by and say hi and have a few drinks and burgers, we love when visiting fans hang out before the game.

I'm not sure, my friend has set up the reservations.  I think it's an Embassy Suites.  We're going to the game and returning to Northern Virginia on Friday.

Thank you.  We'll try and stop by.  I always like meeting fans of the opposition.

Thanks for the info.  It will be interesting to see how many Wyoming fans show up.  We generally get a decent crowd at away games.  Two years ago versus Connecticut we had several hundred in Hartford at their stadium.  This is pretty good considering how far away Wyoming is.

Embassy Suites tells me North Canton. If you have time, the NFL Hall of Fame is close. I guess my expertise in eating and drinking won't help. Enjoy the game.

Thanks for the info.  We'll probably get to Akron by early afternoon.  We've already purchased tickets through UW so we can sit with our fellow Pokes.

Considering that you're a football fan, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is about 20 minutes south in Canton, Ohio. I'm not sure how many days you're planning on staying, but it's certainly worth a visit.

I've been to the Hall of Fame a couple of years ago.  My friend went this summer with his son.  This is really a quick trip.  We're leaving the DC Metro area early Thursday morning arriving in the Akron area early afternoon.  We'll probably go to our hotel, then get dinner somewhere close to the stadium.  We like to get to the stadium at least two hours before kickoff so we can meet some locals and then check out the Cowboy's warm ups.   Looking forward to the game, but not sure what the Pokes will bring to the first game.  New starting QB, and several transfers that will have to contribute.  This game will tell us a lot about what kind of season the Cowboys are going to have.

Thanks for the invite.  We'll try and stop by and say "howdy" .  Just look for a couple of old farts in brown and gold.  🤠

Oh yes, if you've been recently then there isn't much reason to return. What kind of food do you guys like and what area are you guys staying? It might give us a better idea of places to go that are fast and convenient given your short stay.

Let me ask my friend where we're staying.

Eat at Luigi's. Lock 15 or Missing mountain if you want more of a bar brewery.

Luigi's is a good recommendation for an out of towner. Historic Akron pizza parlor. It's open late if you want a snack after the game. In addition to a pizza, get a salad with cheese on it. They only take cash but have an ATM there. If you want to stay in Akron, there is a Courtyard 50 yards away. I stay there when I go back to Akron and it's nice. There is a speakeasy attached. There is also a restaurant next door and if I remember the food is good. The neighborhood can be cool. Nothing is more than 50 yards away.

Checked with my friend, we've got rooms at the Embassy Suites near the Akron airport.
