  1. Past hour
  2. Exactly…and I think most of us thought that would be a winnable game but when the team that beat you 45-3 loses to BG I think you need to pencil in another loss there.
  3. Why? They made the best coaching hire in the MAC in years and are traditionally a solid MAC school. They were playing in front of a sold out stadium. The only sobering thing is we can't seem to come close to doing the same.
  4. Can't let winning (i.e. last weeks win) be a deodorant - John Groce
  5. Agreed, but some of that also comes back to team discipline and that is on the coaches.
  6. They've tried with Ianello...and Brookhart...and Bowden...and Arth...and Motorhead....yet here we are. Maybe it's not all about the head coach?
  7. Today
  8. People act like it is their money being spent and if it was i would support that argument 100% but it isn't. not at all. the majority of people on here i believe want the team to win but others just come on here to complain and would never be happy. it's always the same thing. and on the two occasions that akron has won they say nothing at all. but the first mistake and instantly the come out with "where's the guru? ". doesn't matter if it is a bad play call or a penalty or an interception it's always the same "fire joe"... it's boring
  9. K reed i probably agree with you 90-95 percent of the time, but the taxpayer argument is wrong. The football team does not cost the taxpayer a penny...
  10. Make sure to check out the Zips men's basketball Instagram today. It has pics of the players in their first year and now. They're great, especially to see how kids like Amani and Tavari grew up.
  11. This is even above the ADs head. The University is in financial distress. We're financially incapable of competing in FBS any longer. The cost to compete has grown exponentially over the last 5-10 years. In that time our enrollment has been nearly cut in half. Even as an Akron fan I can't support throwing away more taxpayer money to support a team that has no chance of competing. This isn't the NFL. There is no billionaire owner to eat the cost.
  12. We are making progress. We are losing small. The alternative is paying nearly $1M to start over, likely with the additional cost of losing big for a few years. Been there, done that. Like I said, Joe's fire in the post-game interview was encouraging. He's holding himself accountable and he has the guys on the field playing hard. The mistakes are still there, but they are progressively decreasing. A 6-6 season is realistic. I think nearly all of us would have taken that before the season started.
  13. some nfl player that this generation never even heard of or some young coach that no one ever heard of or some high school coach that no one ever heard of that will suddenly fill the stadium and bring in top quality recruits and while you are at it pay joe a million dollars that the school doesn't have to leave, better yet scrap the entire football program all together and maybe just maybe you won't find something to bitch about, then again you probably will
  14. The question will be if they're serious about trying. So far, there's zero evidence the new AD is serious about trying.
  15. Are you volunteering to pay the $900K+ buyout? If so, I have no objections.
  16. Well obviously being 2-5 in front of D4 high school crowds is good enough for some folks here.
  17. yeah u say it every week go hire an nfl former player blah blah blah give it up already
  18. And you're solving zero of the problems by keeping Moorhead. Maybe you hire the wrong next guy...that is the risk. Meanwhile I'm watching a full house at Doyt Perry as the BGSU is trying to hold Toledo off (after BGSU came back from 21-0 down)
  19. Any one who thinks simply paying close to $1 million to buyout our coach to bring in someone new will magically solve our problems is insane. We've gone down that route with how many coaches in a row? We have much deeper issues that need to be worked on. At this point it's probably way too late unless 2-3 deep pocketed boosters step up to carry the program like Bud has done with basketball. I say 2-3 because the costs to compete in FBS is several times that of hoops.
  20. An overall respectable performance. It could always be better, but it was more of a game than I expected. Plenty of mistakes, but it's getting better. Joe's frustration and calling his team's performance out as "pissing it away" was encouraging too. If the team had only been playing this way versus Wyoming and UAB, but alas...
  21. Number of unique posters (not including me since measuring something changes that thing) that actually posted during the game - 10. Excitement has never been lower.
  22. Did Joe just let 15 seconds run off before calling the time out? It just keeps getting better...
