  1. Past hour
  2. That was always going to be the case. Even if the Zips won 6 or 7 games, like some of the blindly optimistic fans here predicted, we would still see an exodus of our best players. We can't financially compete in NIL against programs like Toledo or OU. Not to mention against the Mountain West, AAC, and the bulk of the other G5. Until that changes we will remain on the bottom of the good chain and be the punching bag for other middling programs.
  3. At this point coach Moorhead is gone. The only question is how. We can't afford a buyout. Perhaps Joe would consider his resignation for his peace of mind and ours. This crap can't wear well on anyone, even an offensive genius. Regardless of what happens we need to accept that there will be another mass exodus of all our better players at the end of the season. Joe can't turn this around and a new staff will need time to turn it around. The better players will leave, and they should. The greatest single factor in achieving success is the people who lead. Akron football does not have the right leader.
  4. Today
  5. How good should one of the most under resourced programs be? Seriously, I think that's an interesting question. Losing is one thing. A program completely devoid of any entertainment value is something completely different.
  6. Unless Finley was injured Saturday, Johnson and Roggow should have been much better prepared for action. I haven't looked for Morehead's post game comments, but I am eagerly waiting for Zips Weekly. Will they have any positive footage to show? Was there any chance that we brought home Toledo's 3rd or 4th team QB to give us some hope?
  7. If we just wait a few more years, G5 may have it's own division below FBS. By doing so, we can save a good MBB program and very good soccer program.
  8. Whoever runs this account has the easiest job in the world. Depressing... but easy.
  9. Highlight from the Gozips.com writeup: "Redshirt senior GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) collected two saves for the Zips out of nine total Bulldogs shots to earn his NCAA-leading eighth shutout of the season." This guy is good!
  10. Are you saying our 1897 win over Ohio State is somehow now meaningless? smh. 😂
  11. Where is Bigzipguy response to soccer games this season?
  12. There’s not a whole lot to be said about this one. As we’ve discussed before, this year’s offense goes as Finley goes. No Finley means no offense. Add in Patrick being out and our chances of competing dropped even more. I’m not sure why Finley didn’t play, but Johnson seemed like he was running a limited package in the first half. Toledo caught on quickly to what we were trying to do, and Johnson’s accuracy issues showed up again. Roggow throws it much better than Johnson, but he seems a ways off in terms of reading college defenses. The defense doesn’t get a pass either. There were way too many busts and missed tackles, even from guys who’ve been steady all year. Just one of those bad days at the office. We needed to be at our best to have a shot today, and that didn’t come close to happening. Now it’s about turning the page and gearing up for a physical — and potentially winnable — matchup with CMU next week. QB: Johnson Roggow HB: Gant M. Williams Macon Reed WR: Walker Mason WR: Polk Grear WR: Mar. Williams Monteiron TE: Newell Cravaack LT: D. Johnson Morley-Simmons LG: McManus Archer C Lyons Morris RG: K. Davis Archer RT: A. 13. If he's not 100% there's no point in risking aggravation in a game we were very unlikely to win; hopefully he'll be back next week. Apparently Johnson Jr. did not inherit much of his father's passing talent.
  14. That's what the question is. Is the FCS money lost on the dozens of TV dollars made up by having more than 1400 people show up for the two November home games?
  15. Vermont 2 UMBC 0 St. Louis with a 2-1 home win over LaSalle Creighton gets a 2-0 road win at DePaul Cornell 3-1 home win over Yale N. KY and Cleveland State 1-1 Georgetown 2-0 home win over St. John's Seton Hall 2-0 road win at Marquette Big East Midwest Standings Creighton 2-0 Akron alone in 2nd at 1-1 Xavier and DePaul 0-1-1 Marquette and Butler both 02 Big East - East Georgetown and Seton Hall both 2-0 Villanova 1-0-1 UConn and Providence both 1-1 St. John's 0-1-1
  16. Honestly any money we would save dropping to FCS is probably negated by lost revenue. Non-scholaship FCS or D2 would probably be where things would start making mathematical sense.
  17. Honestly, I debated whether FCS or Division 2 was the better call.
  18. Man I was almost hung at high noon for bringing that up a dozen years ago. I feel a bit safer now…
  19. Providence 3 Xavier 2 Villanova 2 UConn 1 Fordham 5 VCU 1
  20. A back heel goal on a corner from Remi!
  21. Yesterday
  22. Pretty lackluster after the first 10 minutes or so. Gotta find one in the 2nd half. Can't start conference play with 2 matches without a win!
