  5. Number of penalties should be part of 3 for Thursday before homecoming. If we don't beat ourselves to the tune of 180 yards in penalties, we win this easily. At least I hope, since I'm making the drive to my first road game in about 5 years.

  6. Not just the gravy train, but all the big-time institutions that they all are from. The committees are stacked so completely in favor of the power conferences it is pathetic. Especailly when it comes to sports where teams are selected and or seeded in national competitions.

  7. Victim-less if you like seeing Akron (and about 80% of the other D-1 Athletic programs) continue on with virtually a ZERO chance of ever winning a title. That's not what I would like to see. I'll keep repeating this: I'll take ANYTHING that moves the needle anywhere near heading back in the right direction again. And with the rewards going only to those who have Millions of Dollars to buy wins, that's not the right direction for me as a College Athletics fan.

  8. I wouldn't say victimless, it's tax evasion which is robbing the American people. Regardless, I'm getting the feeling you're in favor of an unregulated system, which will only result in schools like the one we root for to become more irrelevant than we already are, when in reality, we should want anything that will make the playing field more equal. I say if players want paid, take away their scholarships. Give them that dollar amount instead. Let them pay for their own room & board, meal plans, tuition, medical bills, and whatever else. They aren't going to come out anymore ahead at the end of the day. That's what getting a cost-of-attendance scholarship is. That or go overseas. People need to stop acting like their aren't options.

  9. I see 0 harm in letting players profit off of their own likeness. Autographs, jerseys, shirts, whatever.. why not?

  11. As Nate said in his post-game interview last night, they had some hard practices after the St Louis game. At UVU, Denver, and St Louis, they looked to just be going through the motions. They had their opportunities at UVU and Denver but didn't put it together to capitalize. Mistakes hurt in both those matches. At St. Louis, the Zips didn't look sharp at all; looked like they were just there and doing enough to get out of there with a tie. These last 2, they look to be playing Zips' soccer...dominant, attentive, pressing, finishing. Being at home, I'm certain is a help as is the additional time working together. Now, they need to put this one behind them and focus on the next one. That was fun and a great win, but there's much more work to be done. I agree...the calls seemed quite one-sided for awhile. In the end, there were at least 2 egregious MSU fouls that should have resulted in yellow cards, but none were given to MSU...only the Zips picked up cards. The lack of consistency in refereeing continues.
