The foul on Cotton leaping over the fallen BSU player that'd just lost the ball was pretty egregious too.

Super effort. Proud of the team. Malcolm maybe got away with more fouls in PAC 10 play. BSU should savor this. That will be their last win against us for a long time.

National Signing Day coming up February 7th. Seems very quiet right now, but the scholly chart estimates 10 scholarships open. For purposes of this discussion, lets assume a walk-on or two impressed enough to earn a scholly or this is a transfer we don't know about. That would bring the figure down to 8. Since early signing day we have added OL Bryce Peterson as a JUCO commit, who I am anticipating will sign. That takes the number down to 7. We have Tim Scippio, Te'Corey Tutson, Ramon Fields, Ronald Beasley, and Treon Sibley who we have down as commits, but didn't sign during the early signing day. I would think there is a reason these guys didn't sign - either grades, or considering somewhere else for whatever reason. My guess is that Ramon Fields (has not other reported offers and figure we would have signed with his teammates) and Ronald Beasley (really early commit last year who we haven't heard anything else about) are for sure out. Lets say 2 of those 5 end up signing. We have non-qualifiers from last year in Marquise Bridges, Tracy Jordan, Marquess Callaway, and Marcus Kidd. I'm assuming Kidd is out due to his arrest. I would think at most we get 2 of these. Lets also assume there are 1 or 2 players we don't know about that won't be with the team next year for whatever reason as some attrition is natural. With that, I think we are really only looking at 4-5 available scholarships. On national signing day last year, we pulled in 3 of our best commits in Matthew Hansen, Zaire Jacobs, and Jeffrey Lubin. We also signed 2 true freshman contributors in Meeks and Williams after NSD. In short, I would expect a boring NSD with the potential to land 1 or 2 decent guys at the last minute, 1 or 2 decent guys post-NSD, and finally have 1 or 2 scholly's saved for transfers. I've been keeping an eye out on 247's Crystal ball and there is nothing there for us yet.

Moses was a 55% foul shooter coming in and shot them today like he was Mark Price. On the other end, Utomi goes 1-14 from three point land. Goofy damn game.

Speaking of Ronald Beasley.....cross him off the list.

Wow! Winning that game would have been the figurative turning of a corner for this team. Too bad it didn't happen. Ball state has been our little b*tc$ for more than a decade. And today was their chance. Moses(junior), Persons (junior), Sellers (senior) are going against a team of Ivey and a bunch of first year players. To make things even better, our starting center and our backup center are both sidelined. Even better, the game is in Muncie and the young Zips have not won a road game yet. With all these factors, it took ball state 2 OT + 3 blind mice to pull that win. Enjoy your win, cardinals! God knows how long it will be before you get to beat Akron again.

On a good note, the Lady Zips get their first MAC win over Kent!

The refs have been calling a lot of offensive fouls off the screen. Klac needs to stop moving when he sets a screen. Has been called for an offensive foul twice. Jimond is keeping this team in the game. Love his penetration. I think he is one of the few Zips who has not turned it over. Utomi cannot find his shot on the road again. Threw up another air ball on 3 pointer. Last year he started on the road for Kwan and could not miss. This year his shot has been way off away from the Jar. Maybe he can find it in the second half. He did have a nice drive for his only basket. Great pressure defense the first 10 minutes. I thought they slacked a little on d in the latter part of the second half. Fun watching Groce play defense from the bench. One of the benefits of a young team, they listen to the coach. Klac not doing much from the center position offensively. This game is winnable. Need to close it out!!
