  1. I got the chance to speak with Jabari Arthur last night at the coach's show. What a super guy. I don't think I'll get the chance to post the interview until after tomorrow's game, but please be sure give him the best ovation humanly possible. He flew in from Calgary for the event, and you'll never meet a guy more positive about his time with the Zips.

  2. Glad he's not interested in returning to the college game.

  3. Baptiste, who was playing outstanding, was injured in the first half of the Northwestern game. Plenty of time after for Hanson to get playing time. Maybe as a red-shirt freshman he just has not been ready although he was recruited with some hype. I wonder if Matt is not playing out of position at DT. Stroud may have moved him there due to need this year, but I think he may be a better D/E.

  6. Now that OOC play is done for the Zips here's a look at the 2018 Race To Detroit. I will do my best to keep this updated week-to-week and in the proper order based on head-to-head and with remaining game. Since MAC Scores matter most they will be first and overall will be in parenthesis. MAC EAST Frontrunner: Buffalo 4-0 (7-1): Miami, Kent, Ohio, BGSU Still in the Hunt: Miami 3-1 (3-5): Buffalo, Ohio, NIU, Ball St. Ohio 2-1 (4-3): Ball St., WMU, Miami, Buffalo, AKRON AKRON 1-2 (3-3): CMU, NIU, EMU, BGSU, Ohio Eliminated: Kent State 0-4 (1-7): BGSU, Buffalo, Toledo, EMU Bowling Green 0-4 (1-7): Kent, CMU, AKRON, Buffalo, MAC WEST Frontrunner: W. 7. Senior Tate Robertson of BG and Junior Chris Brennan (Copley native) want to make up for many years of frustration and they want to whup up on this young zips team. Zips need to play much better than they did against Syracuse https://bgsufalcons.com/news/2018/10/4/mens-soccer-akron-comes-to-town-on-alumni-weekend.aspx

  8. good 5 minute interview with Jared in this article. if you like Akron soccer, it is worth your 5 minutes...he talks about Diogo's potential and skill, the disappointment of the Syracuse game, the testy environment that the zips will encounter at BG, his happiness for Sinisa and Caleb https://gozips.com/news/2018/10/5/mens-soccer-akron-opens-conference-play-at-bowling-green.aspx

  11. When asked about this very scenario back at Illinois, Groce would simply reply; "I can count". My best guess is Groce decided he's not just giving out scholarships at this point, he's giving out opportunities to compete for scholarships. There will be plenty of attrition again next year. But this time when the dust clears there should still be a full roster in place. Not like this year, where it feels like we are rebuilding again for a second season.

  15. @ZipWatcher, would you mind taking the time to update the scholarship chart? Next year it's getting confusing again with Ivey being our only senior we'll be losing and us bringing in three players - 1 JUCO product who will be a Junior (Camron Reece), one prep school product who should be a Sophomore (Mikal Dawson) and one high school senior who will of course be a true Freshman (Ali Ali). That should fill out next year's on-scholarship roster with: Seniors: 7 (Daniel Utomi, Tyler Cheese, Deng Riak, Channel Banks, Jeremy Roscoe, E-man Olojakpoke, Xeyrius Williams) Juniors: 6 (Camron Reece, Loren Cristian Jackson, Eric Hester, LePear Toles, Jaden Sayles, Mark Kostelac) Sophomores: 2 (Mikal Dawson, Khadim Gueye) Freshmen: 1 (Ali Ali) Total: 16

  17. Is it too late to reach out to them to re-negotiate our contract, putting in a clause that states... If Akron needs the game in an attempt to become bowl eligible or improve bowl eligibility (already bowl eligible but could get a better bowl with a W), Nebraska must travel to Akron to make up the game.

  19. Nebraska down 3 scores at home vs. Purdon't. Their excuse to schedule Bethune Cookman right after we beat Northwestern/they lost to Troy because they expect to playing in the B1G championship game looks funnier than ever right now. Bethune Cookman may very well be their only win on the season.
