  1. Will respectfully disagree. I have been to too many Hoban games to see that he is anything but exceptional in his play calling. But I will admit that if you use Milwee as a baseline for performance Tyrell is way off the charts. Thank God there is a new play caller on the way whoever he is. Our suffering is about to end. Anything is better than what we have experienced.

  2. Caleb Porter, Tim Bezbatchenko, and Crew96 are all trending on twitter in Cleveland. Even with a few inaccuracies, it's great that Akron Men's Soccer is getting some web attention with our connections in these tweets/articles.

  3. I figured since the MAC is starting conference play today I'd revisit this to see how the MAC closed the OOC season. I added 3 additional mid-major conferences to the mix. The MAC improved their KenPom average from 139.25 to 135.50, which is about 30 spots better than the average MWC team. The MVC had a strong finish, but the MAC still leads them by a healthy margin. They also still lead the A10 and C-USA. The AAC by the numbers looks like it should get more at-large bids than the PAC-12. Bravo to the season they're having. The MAC actually looks pretty comparable to the WCC except for the fact we're missing a team as good as Gonzaga. It surprises me they haven't been poached by a larger conference yet. I may revisit this before selection Sunday or after postseason play if anyone is at all interested in seeing how things finish. Edit: After I posted I noticed that I only included 9 MVC teams into the total while still dividing by the 10 total teams they have in the conference. That explains why they looked so much better than they did 2 weeks ago. I've updated the graphic.

  5. "Respectfully disagree"??????? We'll have none of that on this forum. I demand that you call me names, question my intelligence and use mean emoticons!

  6. I've attached my best guess at an updated scholarship chart. Couple notes: I included Boogie Knight, Muldowney, and Bischoff as scholarship players even though there isn't a record of them having one. Just my assumption based on getting actual playing time last year. I also removed Denzel Butler, Mark Ellis, Chuck Turfe, and Vince Lockett...players who you would believe are on scholly and have eligibility left based on the 2018 roster, but do not appear on the 2019 spring roster. Based on all of that, it looks like there are 23 schollies available for 2019. As always, if anyone knows of a player's situation better than I do in regards to them being on scholly or with the program, please let me know and I'll update. Trying to make this as accurate as possible. Zips Football Scholarship Chart.xlsx

  7. Doing my best to keep up on twitter...I've seen a few walk on offers are being extended to St. Eds and Iggy players, a lot of JUCO offers, and not really much in between.

  11. Actually it looks like Neal Brown of Troy getting the job. While I'd prefer some turmoil in-state at Cinci, maybe we can take advantage of Troy with the connections the staff should have in that area from UT-C.

  12. Would be thrilled if we can somehow take advantage of a lot of the moving parts after Arth has been hired being that we still have a whole class to fill. Miami HC retires -> Brand new Temple HC goes to Miami. Houston fires HC -> poached Holgerson from WVU -> WVU likely to poach Fickell from Cinci. Late openings after early signing in schools that are in or border OH.

  13. I think Tyrell could be an asset to the Zips, but I wouldn't characterize him as a brilliant play caller. He's done an excellent job of building a program, getting exceptional talent to come to Hoban and getting the kids to always play hard, and those qualities would benefit any program. However, as a play caller, I've seen him as solid but unspectacular. He sticks with what works and that's a real positive, but they generally so overwhelm other teams with their talent that he hasn't had to be creative.

  14. I hope Arth brings someone in at OC that can call a good game. Xs and Os are Xs and Os no matter what level you're at, if you're from NEO or not. Outside the box thinking can help sometimes. I've posted this before, but it's a great story. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21862192/oklahoma-state-cowboys-mike-gundy-offensive-coordinator-internet

  15. Steve's suggestion would never work. It makes too much sense. But I applaud him for thinking creatively and coming up with a novel solution. Wish I was smart enough to think of it.
