  1. If you need a reason why this team is playing so poorly, just look at the 3 point stats. We are 26th in the nation for 3 point attempts. But we are 217th in 3 point percentage makes. If you just look at just the MAC stats, we would be dead last in the country on 3 point field goal percentage. WE love to take 3 point attempts but cannot make them at a high percentage. This was the same problem last year. Different players, same problem. One of the problems is that we do not have a center who like to take shots in the paint. We just have more guys taking 3 ball shots. Loren Jackson has been terrible shooting the 3 ball and is 3 for 25. Hopefully, when they get home this percentage will improve. If not, this will be a long season. Groce always indicates that his players are great shooters. It is time to prove it or work on a different offense that does more than shoot 3 balls.

  2. I went to the game yesterday. I was a bit interested to see a contest between two new coaches trying to rebuild their programs, not to mention we might have had an interest in Fralick if Kest had retired earlier. There was a good crowd with plenty of BG fans. It looked like the Zips women were going to roll, but BG rallied to make it a game. To their credit, the Zips women didn't fold and won. So far they've won the MAC games they should (WMU had their two leading scorers out with injuries and their team MVP from last year is redshirting for medical reasons). It sure beats watching them lose 19 MAC games in a row. Hopefully Coach Jackson can keep them playing tough for their game against the EMUs on Wednesday.

  3. No, as I said in response to Hilltopper above, it wasn't about athletics. It's about the way decisions were made and that the cuts are unprecedented in scope and forever irreversible once they are fully implemented. The best way for UA to increase revenue is through more federal research grants. Cutting graduate programs in STEM fields is counter to this opportunity and diminishes the region's potential for innovation-related job creation.

  5. I really hope that idea of playing at Chattanooga was just something that was tossed out as an idea, but then quickly scrapped. You only play 12 regular season games and 4 OOC games. If we're that pressed for cash, just schedule (insert P5 school here) and collect the ~$1.3 million. Pay Chattanooga their $300k and use the other $1 million to pay down debt on Infocision.

  6. The article does not paint a pretty picture.... when you plan to cut athletic expenses by $3 million, are buying out your football coach... and presumably are going to increase athletic sponsorships by $5 million, you must have some great accountants
