Never posted but followed the zips during Bowden Era. Todd Stroud former defensive coordinator/associate head coach would be a perfect fit. Recruited 70 percent of the best rosters we had. Worked the transfer game as good as anybody, has connections everywhere. Also local High School coaches like him as well. Coached 12 All Mac DL during his tenure with Akron, and saw 12 players sign NFL contracts during his stay at Akron. Knows the University inside out and has 2 daughters that still reside in Akron. Has been at the University of Miami the past three years. Only assistant coach in NCAA modern draft history to coach multiple first round picks. Coach had 2 more defensive ends drafted in the first round last season. Just a name to consider.

Clarke & Tribble are built like strong safeties & Dawson is built like an OLB.

Good post. NE Ohio is a culture of apathy. It's a great place to live and all people do is complain about it. I don't understand why. The State of Ohio does not do a good job of framing the MAC schools as valuable parts of the communities they are located. Athletics could be an important part of it. As a whole, the citizens of Ohio are not viewing these schools as the tremendous value they are because they are not made aware of the great things these schools do for their communities. It's a real shame and opportunity. The State should promote these schools better.

I hear ya. I live in Akron, but I don't think the Zips are viewed by the community as part of the community TBH. That's even amongst alumni. UAkron is the culture of apathy.

Is Corey Smigel improving every year? That is the best question we can come up with when we are blowing games we’ve had leads in. Why are we self imploding every week? Is it coaching? Talent? Conditioning? Discipline? All of the above? Can you fix it or are you overwhelmed?

Join the club. Watching Zip football the last several years, including Bowden's, it's easy to lose your sanity along with credibility. But I must say Clark would probably have a better record than our current coach.

When the time comes, and who knows when the hell that will be, the AD and committee will find someone that checks all of their boxes and that will enthuse a majority of the fans. A significant portion of the fanbase will then bitch that the program isn't improving fast enough while others will continue to lament TB being moved along. Bring us someone young with some energy and enthusiasm that can talk MAC level talent into coming to Akron and I'll be happy. Show improvement every year. I don't need bowl eligibility in year one or two but there better be some progression of improvement with time.
