Washington State and Central Michigan were both in Arizona to play in separate bowl games. Both their opponents canceled out because of covid so they just decided to play each other. :-)

FWIW, I read that Oregon is supposed to be down like 30 scholarship players for this game. I'd concentrate on what the offense is doing/trying to do rather than the end result.

Reading more and more that this game might not happen due to Oregon injury/transfer/COVID. Might not be the worst thing for Akron if this game gets canceled.

Just playing around while watching TV, I see the baseball schedule is posted! The usual home MAC Friday - Saturday (DH) - Sunday series, and a few games with Malone and BW. One interesting note - they're scheduled to play Georgia Tech on a Monday night in May at Canal Park.

I can't imagine that our Zips beat reporter won't bring us up to date on this soon. 🙄

I think you are dead on! The public's perception of UA is poor (I was going to say horrible). There are so many exceptional programs at UA like nursing and yet the public doesn't know it or won't accept. I do lecturing in the sales program in the college of business. I tell everyone who will listen in my classes that they should and must be proud of their education. Sales has a 100% placement rate out of Akron and the program is rated in the top 5 in the country out of 38 that offer a true sales discipline, not just sales classes. We all need to tout our school whenever possible.

Before Joe was hired as the new Zips coach, I would have had very little interest in this game (statistically insignificantly different from zero). Now, I have little interest in it, but my interest is statistically significantly greater than zero. However, I clicked on your second link which took me to another link which allowed me to watch a guy explode a Tesla (I mean obliterate it ). Really cool.

Honestly? I'd put it at 15%. The current wave is the direct result of Thanksgiving/Christmas (...it's almost like we can predict these things or something...it's almost like science works if we give it enough time...) and will likely burn through by March and be on the decline in cases. Hopefully the universities can be smart and require masking at all games, and if they were even smarter they'd start requiring proof of vaccination like Playhouse Square does, to limit the potential disruption of a program outbreak. But ultimately it's whatever the players do in their spare time away from the buildings that will dictate the % chance of a program outbreak.
