  1. I lost the site, but I just read a Facebook post from NCAA Soccer that stated major rules changes to NCAA rules to comply with FIFA rules. During the regular season, overtime will be eliminated, and play will conclude after 90 minutes with a draw declared. During conference and NCAA tournament competition there will no longer be a "Golden Goal" format, and play will continue until the completion of two overtime periods. Looks like a continuation of efforts to make college soccer more like the world's game! I like it!

  3. https://www.ncaa.org/news/2022/4/20/media-center-prop-approves-changes-to-soccer-overtime-rules.aspx The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel during a virtual meeting Wednesday approved changes to overtime rules in men's and women's soccer for both the regular season and the postseason, effective for the 2022 season. For the regular season, overtime has been eliminated, meaning if a game is tied after the regulation 90 minutes, it will end in a tie. Previously, teams played two 10-minute overtime periods in a sudden-victory (golden goal) format, and if neither team scored, the game ended in a tie. In conference tournaments and NCAA postseason games, the sudden-victory component has been eliminated, and teams will play two 10-minute overtime periods instead. Also, when a substitution is made by the winning team in the last five minutes of the second overtime, the game clock will stop. If the game remains tied, a penalty-kick shootout will be held to determine the winner. Video review The panel approved expanding video review to include whether a foul occurred inside or outside the penalty area. Protests Panel members approved expanding the protest rule to include a review of violent behavior II and fighting red cards. The protest, including video of the incident, must be filed within 48 hours of the completion of the game (the same as other protests) and be submitted by the conference office or coordinator of officials. The scope would be limited to changing a violent behavior II or fighting red card (two-game suspension) to a violent behavior I red card (one-game suspension). A committee consisting of the NCAA men's and women's soccer secretary-rules editor, NCAA national coordinator of soccer officials and one NCAA soccer regional advisor who is not affiliated with the team, conference or region will consider the protest and render a decision. Reentry The NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee rescinded a change to the soccer reentry rules. Committee members voted in February to move forward a change where players would not be allowed to reenter a game after being substituted for in the second half. However, after hearing feedback from the membership during the comment period on the proposed rules change, the committee agreed it is best to have more dialogue on this subject.

  5. Man, I always liked Hankerson. But you’ve got to the sh***ing me, I can’t believe Groce went for another mediocre MAC team’s best player. Hope it works out much much better than the last one.

  6. Jay Wright of Villanova is retiring, with Fordham's Kyle Neptune replacing him. Should be a few guys entering the Portal from both squads. Something to keep an eye on.

  7. "Keep sawing wood" reminds me of "rowing the boat" which gives me a queasy stomach, but I guess it's better than "keep polishing the doorknob."

  9. It is just a symptom of today's sports culture. From an early age these kids are the best in their communities and they spend their youths having smoke blown up their a$$e$ and being told their on their way to the NBA. They then get to college where there are a dozen other kids on the team who were the best players in their communities and when the coach doesn't share the enthusiasm that their hangers on and mommies have with their game and they are not the focus of the team they think it has to be the coaches' fault. They then head off to another coach they think may see their true talent.

  10. I like "sawing wood"! It fit the situation perfectly. Varnish gets all the glory, but you have to saw wood first to make it happen. You need to do the grunt work to be able to get to the glory.

  13. They should allow all of us alumni who were at UA during the Ianello/Arth eras to attend as well. We deserve a preview of what real football looks like.

  15. Zippy should be reinvented along with the logo. The "Barney" act alike mascot has to go. Needs to be a bad ass Kangaroo that scream "Fear the Roo". The happy go lucky zippy has no place in this new era.
